Thanks Wayne! We appreciate that we can have a Host like RV.Net that will allow us to exchange ideas on these old unique campers. I know that when I first started looking at campers, there were only a few references anywhere on Avion Campers. Now, I think, that this is one of the largest compilations of Avion Truck Camper information anywhere on the web. If it's not, I haven't found the others... As other campers come to the surface, it is nice to occasionally see RV.Net folks grab them up and then join this little group to fix them up and enjoy them in what-ever shape they happen to be in. From Rustic and Original, to Bare-Bones and Basic, to Full on show-shine! That is the fun with these old Campers, they are made well enough, that my kids could be enjoying my Avion after I am gone! Kind of neat! Thanks again for the hosting and Moderating. Hopefully we can get the campers out soon for some more camping! V/R Garry in AK Garry K Wife + 4 kids Retired Military Family.... Its seldom, I think, that members of a Forum thank a moderator for anything other than stamping out a flame war. But you, Wayne, and the other moderators do much more to make this an uncommonly friendly and informative site. I remain in awe of the knowledge base of the members, and their collective generosity...all of which is a compliment to you and the gentle herding that you and the other mods apply. Now, I hope to finish up the rebuild by early summer - with glorious photos and a champagne launch. Then its on to enjoying the open road. DG ![]() |

I am recently returned from the Columbus, Ohio area having purchased a Cayo C-11 there. It's in good shape and I'm proceeding with basic repairs only at this point. I've posted details and many photos at the Airstream forum, but I do monitor this board also and will reply here to any questions or comments left here. http://www.airforums.com/forums/f417/jammers-1970-cayo-c-11-a-88508.html Please note, maximum photo width=640 * This post was edited 03/29/12 11:14am by an administrator/moderator * |

Great news. We'll soon have a bakers dozen of Avion/Cayos on this thread. I was wondering what year this C11 was built, and are the vents OEM? Update: I just read your notes on the Airstream Forum and I am really impressed with your breadth of knowledge and skill. You are a really welcome addition to our string. DG |

This was built in 1971. The two Hehr roof vents were OEM, the front one equipped with a fan, the rear one wired for a fan but no fan installed. The vent covers were replaced by Cayo Repair about ten years ago, and it's possible that the color is not original. 1971 Cayo C-11 truck camper, 2010 Airstream Classic, 1997 Chevrolet K2500, 2004 Chevrolet Suburban 2500 8.1. |

That C-11 is a really pretty unit! Looks to be in great shape! For the C-11 owners, where and what type of City-water hook-up do you have? I know the original C-10's had a pressure tank, and the city fill was the same as the tank fill connection. I have upgraded to a poly tank, flush potable fill and new pump. But I would like to set it up for city water at some point, and I don't want it to look out of place. Any Ideas?? Thanks! Garry |

Thanks, Garry. My rig has a surface-mount city water connection (in other words, it extends out a couple of inches from the outside wall) just forward of the water heater. It breaks up the lines visually in a way I don't especially like and I'm thinking of replacing it with a recessed one. The check valve in it is shot anyway so something's going to have to be done. VTS has several to choose from but none of them is quite right: http://www.vintagetrailersupply.com/Fresh_Water_Plumbing_s/108.htm |

Nice looking rig. I got a 1968 C11 in December and ran into the same rear bumper interference issue. I'm curious what do you plan to do about the rear bumper? Leave it off or lower it ?

I have the rear bumper issue too with my 95 Dodge. My solution has been to not slide the camper all the way in and put a spacer in the front of the bed. I have thought about a two inch basement to get it over the bumper.
