66C10. Understand completely about funding the project. If you look at our photos, you'll see that ours is nearly all original, too. We repaired what we could to make her functional for the two of us, not interested in a "rebuild". If the bones are good, she'll be the "belle of the ball" at every campground you pull her into. Enjoy the ride! See y'all on the roads, or in the parks. tonyj & Shirley '66 AVION C-10 '86 F-250 6.9 DIESEL KJ4OEQ 146.520MHz CB Channel 7 |

Thanks for the welcome everyone! I do have a little work cut out for me, but everything seems very manageable at the moment. The Avion was listed as a 65, but the Operation and Service Manual that came with it showed 66 100436 for the serial number, which I'm assuming the 66 was to indicate the year. Aft ![]() The previous owners that I purchased it from painted the flags on the back. The British flag was for the wife, as she is British and the American flag was for the husband, who is well, American. Right Side ![]() View of the bunk ![]() Looking Aft from the bunk ![]() Where the bathroom was ![]() Cabinets ![]() Looking Forward ![]() The seat on the right wing was rebuilt with marine grade wood, as when the PO purchased it, the windows were left open for an extended amount of time and water got in. I know there is still some wood rot in the wing as the tie-down hoop isn't solid. I'm not sure how much was actually rebuilt, but one of these days I'll tear into it and see. The floor looked fairly solid, and doesn't feel spongy when walking on it. According to the forecast, I have a couple storms headed this way this week, so I plan on hanging out inside the coach to see if I notice any leaks. I do plan on replacing the interior and exterior lighting with LED, and will plan future upgrades from there. My creature comforts aren't too high on the list right now as most of my time will be spent at an airport or the college. Showers will be at the local gym. I'll mainly be using the coach for a roof over my head, until I can get some newer less energy dependent appliances in it. - Tim * This post was edited 07/08/14 02:16pm by 66C10 * |

With that said, you can see what we did to gain a bathroom back, but we had to save up to get the toilet, but it works really well! Garry |

Garry I do eventually plan on adding a toilet back to it, not too sure about a shower. After two days of reading, I managed to get through this entire thread, and it has been eye opening. So much useful information in here. I feel a lot more comfortable with my purchase, and can't wait to get started with the modifications. Tim |

Upon closer inspection, it's apparent whomever did the previous repair, really didn't do it right. They didn't repair the whole wing, just the bench portion under the windows. This is just forward of the bench, inside the current battery box location. Where the tie-down mount is located. ![]() Opened the cabinet under the sink on the left side to see what damage is there. Not nearly as bad as the right side, which had windows left open for a period of time. ![]() This is the right side jack mount location. It will need to be fixed correctly at some point in time as well. I need to design new mounts that can clear my dually fenders. This side would end up in the middle of the fender if it wasn't removed. ![]() It wouldn't be complete without a front end view ![]() I'm going to grab some cardboard and see if I can't create a new jack mount that will work with my dually fenders. Beyond that, I may look into tearing out that newly built bench seat to properly repair that wing. |
