Michael, my thought regarding interior panels is to take one out, lay it on a large table on top of the new uncut sheet and use it as a pattern for cutting the shape and for pre-drilling the holes, then simply(!) reattaching the new panel where the old one came off... I wonder if that would work with your Luan. Perhaps you could avoid drilling any new holes at all.

I may be living in a fool's paradise...

I'm doing this because the vinyl-clad interior is not quite the thing and I fancy a shiny interior.

I have no need for the gusset pieces you fabricated because I have replaced the wood with aluminum. I will just rivet into the frame.

As for welding up an aluminum frame, I'm obviously convinced of the merit of that approach. I have taken lots of pics of the finished frame from different angles and will compile a set of measurements which I am very happy to share.

Dick

I can see using the original interior as a general pattern. For me it would not work since my design requires a new pattern
i would be careful in trying to duplicate the rivet pattern as well
when i took my skin out there were a lot of rivets that went nowhere

Thanks for offering the measurements, i will probably come back to this at some point

That link is the one rv.net gave us to upload pics. I don't understand exactly how it works but it does work. I quoted that other post/ or copied it and pasted it one I don't remember. They were having problems getting a picture posted. I believe it was one of the mods who built that link. It was so easy to use so I just saved it in my favorites bar and when a new person is having picture problems I just open it and repost it on here.

I appreciate the idea of a "simple" posting mechanism...since this site remains difficult for everyone who is not completely familiar with the technique of sites like Photobucket. But, that one with a live Dropbox gives me the willies. Andthere was no picture immediately in view - at least on my computer. In my opinion, its best to walk folks through it until they learn the more arcane way of posting pix...even if its somewhat more difficult.

This is just my opinion and I could be wrong. Its happened before ;-)

Here is where I got the link, says one of the moderators designed it.

Will, I don't mean to belabor this. Please feel free to use any method that works for you. BTW Bryan Appleby (BKA) is a hoss and a terrific guy, but he's not a moderator. Neither am I, so its just my opinion.

No problem. I use photo bucket myself but wasn't quite sure how to explain all that. At that other link it said (1492 Moderator) designed that other link. But I agree with you that photobucket is better. Sorry about the confusion man.

I found this out on mine too. When starting from scratch it can be very frustrating since you have no patterns. I learned to cut too big, then hold up and carefully trim a bit at a time till you get it all where you want it to be. Not perfect, but it is a start!

Good Luck!!

To help cheer you up, Here are some early pics of mine. Some of this got pulled out and re-made differently later. But some of it got used just like this till I went back and changed it. So if you make it so that you can pull various parts apart without a total dismantling, you can get it to a point of use, and then just make little tweaks as you find things that don't work just the way you want them.

Then building those creative plumbing options...

Garry
Thanks for the pics ....and the encouragement.
I am thinking the same thing , build as modular as possible and adjust as needed.
