Ticki2 helped me find mine and it is already cracked again. The AZ sun is hard on them. I would like to find a glass one. Let me know what you find.

The amber lenses have become hard to find. I came across a turn signal in a truck stop that cost all of about $10 that had the right lens on it after a year or two of looking.

I believe that vintagetrailersupply.com has clear lenses:

Dodgeavion, I've been studying the picture of the inside of your shell with insulation stripped out. It appears that a very thin coat of insulation remains adhered to the skin. Are you planning to overcoat that layer with the new application of spray-in foam or go down to bare metal?

I'm thinking that a coat of elastomeric roofing paint on the inside of the shell before foaming might be worthwhile for waterproofing purposes, but perhaps, since one cannot get under the ribs to the rivets where the leaks would occur, it's not worth considering...? Perhaps the new application of closed cell foam will, in itself, be the best waterproofing. Your thoughts? I'm about to remove the vinyl covered inner skins and the old foam to add new foam and bright aluminum interior skins.

Has anyone else removed inner skins and refoamed the inner shell? Have you encountered interesting pitfalls? Do you think it's necessary to rivet into the north/south
ceiling ribs, using a 3' wide sheet or could the ceiling of the inner shell be 4' wide? It would make a nice smooth seamless ceiling in the center of the camper.

Regarding the roof, Chuck Cayo suggested going to HD and getting regular mobile home roofing compound to resealing the roof. Has anyone used a roofing compound that they particularly liked?

67, did you get to do the solar installation?

Some many interesting issues...

Dick

Took the kids to the mountains to go sledding. Was a GREAT day!

The kids were glad for the camper. One of my sons friends sleded into a frozen creek, and broke thru and got soaked, you can see the steam come off him as he stands in front of the heater.

Hey guys I'm contemplating what I want to do for a grey water tank for my C11. I think I'm going to keep the black tank as is and plumb the shower, bath sink and kitchen sink into a grey tank. One way to go is purchase a tank that will fit the space. Another would be have a custom tank made by a local fabricator. A third option might be making a tank out of PVC pipes. I'm thinking of linking together side by side 4 " or 6 " PVC pipes each being 6 - 7 ' long how crazy is this idea ? I'm thinking of drilling each pipe with three holes maybe 1.5 " in diameter on the sides of each pipe. Use PVC glue or epoxy or ? to glue in nipples to connect one pipe to another. So lets say three pipes side by side could flow into each other, one of them would have the drain valve. The inlets could be one, two or three individual inlet pipes. Am I crazy to consider this ? If I could get 20 gallons of capacity I'd be happy. You guys know the rear area in a C10/C11 is pretty snug to work/install a second tank that's why I'm thinking of pipes. Thoughts ?

Hello everyone from the weather challenged Midwest. I see that Garry is having a great time outdoors in Alaska while we are hunkered down, every other day, as the storms come rolling through. Today its cold rain turning into snow.

Dick - D1trout - I think that one of the commenters went through the removal of insulation, etc on this string. Wasn't it Dennis whose handle is 69Cayo? If you go to his member profile you can look through his posts. See if that is helpful. And yes, we were working on the solar panel this week end, but got delayed by the weather. We have decided that the panel will fit N/S between the ceiling vents.

rfuerst911sc - We used the PVC for the gray water, folding the line back and forth until we had perhaps 12 gallons of storage. We also separated the black water and the gray water tanks so that they dump individually. As you know, its probably better to run the gray water as a rinse for the black water tank. But, we would have lost too much storage so made the decision to split them. We have not encountered any problems in our travels. This was described earlier in this string - but you'll have to search to find it under my handle.

Finally, we did find a real problem while working on the coach: busted water lines. So far we have found the connectors between the PEX and copper lines were broken. We have now found PEX in other areas that broke. The problem is that the water lines are behind cabinets or dive through furniture that is (permanently) in place. Potentially I'll have to take some areas apart to repair the broken lines.

I thought that I had winterized. Boy, was I wrong. Next year its blow out the pipes and jugs of antifreeze. Of course next year may be balmy unlike this winter.

We're gearing up for the Texas Truck Camper rally at the first of next month...we also plan to attend Overland EXPO in Flagstaff in May. Hope some of you can make either of these events.
