Howdy!
Thanks for that D1. I think there is a way too.
Direct vented ones do not use interior air, so they
can be installed safely in a closet. Concentric
direct vented ones use only a single duct. Actually
a duct within a duct. Wait, I remember something
like that! Yes, that crazy furnace vent in the
rear that we all creatively try to cover up.
The problem I am finding is that small tankless
propane water heaters are not designed like
this. I am still looking; is anyone aware of
such a beast?

I have been looking how I can have some disconnects on he back of the camper for one of the portable on demand hot water heaters, so that when we need it, we bring it along, and plug it in when desired for hot water and showers, but could be used for an out door shower too. And they are pretty inexpensive.... Any other thoughts?

Some of the demand heaters are top vent and some are back vent.
I think the issue with using them indoors is getting the carbon monoxide out.
We can always crack the bathroom window to get air in.
It also seems to me that those great quick connect fittings 69 has on his propane
system would work well if you wanted to hang your heater out by the propane
locker door for an outside shower. I'm going to plumb my inside heater for an
outside shower option - at least that's my plan without having spent a great
deal of time studying the whole project(read "disclaimer...")

That looks like the perfect C10 heater arrangement!

Howdy!
Eztankless makes a water heater precisely
like the above. The problem is it is 24in tall
and the water/gas connections attach on the
bottom(increasing the height more). Thats
a reeeal tight fit. Wish there was a smaller
option.
May I ask a personal question
to yall? How do you set up an outdoor
shower? ( I am kind of bashful )

I set up a shower tent like the one in this link.

That is the way that we do it, but I set it up next to the camper and use my Camp Chef external, instant water heater hooked up to the camper LP and the water tanks under the trailer. It works great, but we only use it when we are going to be camped in the same spot for at least a couple of days. I like it better than pulling a larger rig with a full shower. Besides, I don't fill up the gray water tank very fast by using the external shower.
