cajunavion wrote: Howdy! Anyone with EDPM rubber roof? Can you get away with stripping the tarrry stuff off and sealing the seams really well or is it to flat for that? I used an epoxy on the roof after removing as much of the material as possible. There are photos and comments on this thread, though I don't know how to find it. Maybe we should figure out a way to index this thing? Any ideas?

Ticki and others have commented on the C11 "Ultra" Avion that is currently on Ebay. Its currently bid at $600. In my opinion it is maybe worth $1,000. Its got a lot of issues, starting with the oddball jacks, dings on the exterior to a partially gutted interior. Not to mention that it has been kept in Washington State where there is moisture aplenty. Its the opposite of the one that went last week. And I have no idea how that TC was lifted onto the dolly which is parked on an embankment!!! rfuerst911sc is asking about using truck liner for the barrier between metals. I'm still of the opinion that a material like Parbond, which keeps some of its elasticity, is a better choice. Hopefully the Parbond will always form a barrier unlike the truck liner material which may break down with constant flexing and pressure. * This post was edited 09/13/13 12:21pm by 67avion * |

Howdy! I am doing the same with mine. Stablelift seems that! The rule with aluminum and stainless is you must have big aluminum with small stainless (aluminum body with stainless bolts okay aluminum bolts with stainless body not okay) That said, you?ll still get corrosion in corrosive conditions with that setup. I am going with stainless steel bolts nylon washers and a strip of 1/8 x 6 inch nylon. |

Some folks say don't even thinkaboutit. Others do what I have done, which is SS bolts with large SS washers and a lot of Parbond or other elastic material. Now, my "sandwich" includes steel like in the jack support which is bolted into an aluminum body with SS. I can see where there may be issues down the road. I have never heard of the SS bolts, nylon washers and nylon strips(??). Could you explain more and put up some photos? |

Howdy! You can bind chunks of aluminum with steel fastners, but the steel stains alone are a put off to me. My avion has plenty of steel fastners, those crazy bungle things (gee don?t get me started), and they are corroded and holding well. The original setup held for 50 years. I think what you?ve described will work several decades! I though would not use Parr for this, it might work, I just do not know. I apologize to yall, I just cant get pics with my iphone. Garry was nice enough to pull my other one down. But attached is the nylon strip I spoke of. |

Well, I know better than to doubt a Cajun. You live in a country of aluminum boats like my river going 20 foot Oquaka jonboat. We'll be in Canun country around Thanksgiving to attend the horse races in New Orleans and going into the swamp. I hope that Garry can set up your photo.

Finished up the drivers side wing today. Layed down two coats of stain and two coats of marine urethane. Going to put down two coats of urethane tomorrow and will be ready to install the Stable Lift next week. Will post pics tomorrow.
