The lap joints are coming out nice and tight, so it would be just a very thin wipe of caulk. Or will it look unfinished ? Dennis My 1966 C-10 didn't have vinyl covering or beads when I bought it. There were remnants of cloth welting that went between the cabinets and the aluminum, but I did without. The seams of the Aluminum to aluminum are just painted over in my TC. Looks fine, as I don;t know any other look. Good Luck! Garry Garry K Wife + 4 kids Retired Military Family.... Alway's on the move.... 2002 F350 CCSB 5.4 6spd 4x4 in AK 1966 Avion C-10 Truck Camper |

Wow, I like that shower bar. The end caps are the fiberglas pieces at the front and back of your camper. Dennis |

Awesome work guys! It is so cool that a lot of our projects are coming along so close together. I am so close to putting my inner walls back in that it is inspiring to see the progress Dennis! I finished up the 12V wiring over the weekend and am ordering the parts to do the 110v right now. Keep up the great work! Chris Happy Camping! Avioncamper.wordpress.com ![]() |

Thanks Gary, So where the al. overlaps the endcap it looks good ? I'm leaning toward doing this as it will make the final coat of paint so much easier and I don't think the raw seam would look any worse than the bead. Dennis |

Dennis, I think as long as you are going to paint it that it will be fine without the bead. It would probably look kind of funny with the bead painted IMO.. |

You really need that welting. Caulking will never look quite right.

If you do paint, Zolatone was the OEM in my camper. They're still in business.

Dennis , to bead or not to bead is a matter of personal taste . FWIW , Airstream interior panels have no beading . With the heavier gauge aluminum that you are using their is probably little danger of the edge wrinkling when riveting . If going that route I would sand and paint the panel edges that will show . I don't have personal experience but have read POR paint products has a clear coat that can be applied to raw aluminum . There is also a company , I think in Ohio , that re-clearcoats Airstream exteriors . I'll see if I can find the name if you are interested .

I decided that everyone was talking about the rail at the beginning of the cab over. Its really funny that sometimes we think we are following along a discussion - and it turns out we're not ![]() Maybe someday we can post an official Avion vocabulary. |
