It was common for the Cayo campers to have the Plexiglass side windows in the bunk area.

I believe you are correct.
From all the pics i've seen on the net, the only ones I've seen with cabover side windows are the Cayo branded campers.

Which makes 69Cayo's AVION all the more unique . The later Cayo's with side windows also had a longer over cab bunk area .

Forgot to mention I went with the next gauge up on the al. skin, .032 instead of the .025, adds abt. 30 lbs. all toll.
The H14 temper is very forgiving as far as kinks, my greatest fear beforehand.
As you can see it takes very few clekos to hold a 4x10 sht. in place.

WOW Dennis!!!
That looks fantastic! My inside aluminum has hammer marks where a PO tried to gut it the cave-man way. "bigger hammer"... I would have loved to do that with mine, but shipping to Alaska really hurts for sheet goods, so maybe someday when we leave Alaska, and I tear into the C-10 for the second time, I'll remember this, and will probably do the aluminum base at the same time! Strong, light and no rot!

Keep us posted! It's looking really great!

Inspiring work! We're starting to crank up here again. I plan to get the steps in place, the corners on the curve of the shelf replaced in Corian, and a bath bar for shower head and soap. I'll post photos when we get it done, which I hope is real soon. We're loading the camper Friday for its trip to the local RV dealer, Camper Supply in Carterville, Illinois. I've asked them to test all of the systems and add a charge line from the alternator. No doubt they'll find issues that we'll have to address. Better now than on the road.

Spring is coming and we want to be ready. Especially for the meet up in Flagstaff.

I wouldn't mind leaving the interior in the bare aluminum color. I think that it looks sharp.

Dennis , how are you doing the compound curves for the end caps ? You have probably thought of it , but don't forget blocking for the handrail . It's coming together nicely .

Ticki when you say the "end caps" are you talking about the areas directly behind the top rail of the entrance to the cab over - or "handrail? If so, its where we are putting Corian. The handrail is made of a flexible material that we fastened with an adhesive. I painted it with an aerosol spray that is favored by graffiti artists.

Here is the Corian about to be set in place:

And a shower bar that holds the shower head and soap rack that we put in this afternoon. Its an off the shelf product, but much shorter vertically than most shower bars. you can also get other accessories for it such as a mirror.

Thanks Gary, I had to replace mine because it had been seriously abused and the po drilled holes and shot stick foam in (god only knows why) which expanded and buckled the interior skin.
That little trick also did a great job of gluing the panels to the wall.

Tiki the end caps are in place, everything will be painted.
The blocking for the hand rail is in and I beefed up the factory design with al. angle tied into the framing.

Going with bare al. skin would be alot more work!
The bare aluminum does look sharp but it's really not practical and I'm not aware of any clearcoat that would go over bare al..

What would everyones opinion be on eliminating the vinyl bead that runs along the ceiling and at the end caps and just running a little caulking where the sheets overlap ?
The lap joints are coming out nice and tight, so it would be just a very thin wipe of caulk.
Or will it look unfinished ?

Dennis
