The fox has really ticked off WLToo - it pooped on the garden shed porch. That's way too close to the house. So WLToo announced that the next time we see the fox, he's killing it. One fox gone will not have an effect on the rabbits around here. We rarely see a rabbit with all the predators in the area. In fact, I haven't seen a rabbit in a couple years.

Alex isn't happy right now. I have a TENS therapy thingie on my knee right now, and he can't be anywhere near it. Normally, he'd be asleep in my lap this time of night, but the instructions clearly say don't use near hearts, and his little kitty heart would be right on top of the device. While kitty heat therapy is nice, it just wasn't doing the job on this knee pain. The TENS doodad had a huge effect after the first application.

Spotacus decided the clothes I was pulling out of the closet to see if they still fit would be a perfect nap location. Great, now I have to clean the cat hair off before donating them...but I surely have a nice, bare closet now. Good.

Snort. The auto-correct changed Spotacus to Stoppages. Good thing I saw that before hitting Post Message.

Leoghaire is very much calmer now. She comes up about the same time each day, doesn't run away when we bring out the corn, and doesn't spook if we sit on the porch while she eats. She doesn't have the same interest, as did MDL, in trying new stuff - she just wants the corn. Hope she'll be ok while we're at Yellowstone. I didn't ask the housesitter to do anything with the wildlife. Just maintaining house and pool seemed enough.

L'Andante is getting her generator maintained, then we'll pack up and hit the road. Meeting up with Tall and Short Friends at Old Faithful, where they've been deputy rangers since May. We'll enjoy ourselves there for a while, then let them pick the route back here. I have plans for state park visits over the winter, since those are about the only locations in this area where Winter Texans haven't filled all the spaces.

This trip will be our first with the Rand McNally (Good Sam) GPS. Between it and my own land navigation and map reading skills, we'll be fine, but it will be nice to have a larger screen than the old GPS provided. WLToo can put the old GPS in his Jeep.

Time to take the TENS off, before the adhesive causes an allergic reaction. Later, y'all.

Wanderlost, I had been having knee pain for so long, even had surgery on one of them, that I figured replacement was next on the list. From a blog I read I found out about MSM, a supplement you can get in powder or capsule, could only find powder in my area. I started taking it the last week in June and within a couple of weeks the pain in both my knees had gotten so much better I couldn't believe it! The underlying problem is still here but with the pain under control it is so much easier to live with. I really suggest you try to find it and give it a try, who knows it just may help!

When I get back, I'm off to the docs to find out why the knee hurts, then go from there. Meanwhile, the TENS is helping.

Driving home this evening, I saw a very skinny doe walking down the hill by the road. Couldn't tell if it was MDL or not. If not, there's another doe in bad shape. Everyone else, especially the bucks, all look just fine, so it's not a lack of graze. We're also getting a bit more moisture, which will bring out new grasses, so the dry period may be gone soon.

Bedtime. Night, y'all.

I have been using a 10's unit forever for back pain and wouldn't leave home without it.

It is the size of a deck of cards has 2 channels, uses a 9V battery and works every bit as good as the larger non portable units.

Got another TENS unit for WLToo. Figured we'd both need one on this trip.

Almost packed; house sitter is here and getting set up with personal computer. Pool's in good shape, no rain so no need to mow anything - should be a relatively painless sitter stay.

I will most definitely miss swimming each day. But there are supposed to be some hot springs near the places we're visiting, so that might make up for not swimming laps...

Leoghaire, Gimpy, and two does I don't recognize came up for dinner. They stayed just long enough to clean out the dish, then dashed off. I hope Leoghaire still comes up when we get back, as the sitter's not going to feed her, just keep the water trough topped off.

The barn swallows gathered in a big bunch today. I think they're going to leave in the next couple of days. I miss them when they're gone.

Time to pack up the last bits. Later, y'all.

So we left on 4 Sep, but only made it a couple hundred miles. We did better yesterday, traveling over 500 miles to Lamar, Colorado. The cats did pretty well, once we learned which cry meant "I gotta peeeee!!!"

Today was a much shorter distance day, but was rather adventurous. I decided to bypass Denver traffic and went up several county roads. One was bumpy enough that the cats complained. Another made WLToo so nervous that I had him pull over and I drove the rest of the way, then up the interstate to Cheyenne. We have a sketchy WiFi here, so I won't stay on for long.

My knee hurt so much that yesterday I started taking ibuprofen. It's helping, especially when combined with the TENS unit. Got another TENS for WLToo's back, and he's very happy with the results.

Spotacus is sleeping on the dashboard. Alex is sleeping on the back of the sofa. All is well.

Time to break out the TENS units.

Later, y'all.

After 6 lovely days in Yellowstone, totally without any cell or internet connections (or TV, because we don't have one in L'Andante right now), we're back in "civilization." We and our friends are making our way back home.

Meanwhile, the pool guy called several times. When WLToo finally got through to him today, the pool guy said he'd backed into our stone mailbox, and it would need repair. The house sitter sent two photos: the mailbox is not repairable - it's complete rubble. And the pool is green. I'm not even slightly impressed with the pool guy. We had planned to move the mailbox a couple feet away from present location, so at least the pool guy will pay for a goodly portion of that cost. How long it will take us to get the pool back into shape remains to be seen... Sigh.

L'Andante is having one problem after another. WLToo hit the right rear view mirror against the entry gate at Yellowstone, and it's held in place with screws, glue, and duct tape. We can't travel much more than 60 mph or it could come right off. Naturally, Mr. I Can Fix It (not even) won't consider stopping anywhere to have it repaired. Noooo, he's going to chance it not coming off and him getting a ticket. Then the DC solenoid is gone, so while we have AC when we hook up at a campground, we've got zero DC power. And so many other little items have cropped up that we both decided it's time for a new RV. So the research begins into what size trailer an F-150 rated for 12,500lb towing capacity will take to Alaska and back without us freezing our badoobies off.

Meanwhile, Alex is in hot water. Seems he won't use the litter box when he ought to, and pees inside his cage. When we let him out for the evening, he tries to pee on the carpet. I caught him spraying the wall under the vanity. Good thing we brought an entire gallon of Wee Cleaner. I suspect we'll use it all before we get home. I shudder to think what he'll do in the house when we get back home. Another Wee Cleaner order is in the offing, I think.

Spotacus decided he'll sleep behind the sofa while we're on the move. Except today - the road was fine, but the wind was so strong that we could only make 50 mph most of the day. It got him a little concerned, so he moved out of behind the sofa and slept on it, on me a couple times, then on the bed finally. Otherwise, he's been a lovely boy this whole trip. Going outside on a halter and leash wasn't his favorite, but he enjoyed being out there with his people.

Tomorrow looks to be the same wind wise, so it will be a long, long day again. Driving an RV in Wyoming is definitely a challenge -- it even beats the Texas Panhandle for windy. I know: I grew up in the Panhandle.

Wind's rocking the RV. Will be an interesting night.

Later, y'all.

Dragged ourselves into tonight's RV park. Wind, traffic, bad road in places, and insane drivers made for mucho stress - and occasional flights as L'Andante grabbed some air.

Another day of wind, as we maneuver Raton Pass, but at least when we turn east, the road is not near as crowded. Then about a half day of wind and we'll be past the worst of it.

L'Andante came through the drive just fine today. We have noticed that the dash air conditioner doesn't really put out cool air, unless we also run the generator and main roof a/c. I think maybe the hose is disconnected. Again. WLToo and Tall Friend will check it in a few minutes.

I've loved everything about L'Andante, except the fact that she is a bear to drive in the prairie winds. I will miss her - but to everything there is a season...

At least Spotacus and Alex are happy. They ate dinner an hour early, because I forgot that my computer is still on Central time.

Spotacus is looking out the windows, contemplating homicide. There are doggies walking with their humans all over the RV park, and Spotacus would like nothing more than to tangle with them. Luckily, Alexander the Grrreat Psycho Kitty is too busy cleaning up to notice them. If he does, it will get very loud in here.

Short Friend is making chicken curry, and I'm in charge of the rice, so will keep this one short.

Later, y'all.
