Had to get an early morning blood test. The lab is inside a Walmart about 15 miles away. So when I finished, I decided to see what I could find. Being so early in the morning, not too many folks were in the store; we could all keep our distance.
I found most of what I wanted. A lot of items were one to a customer, which was fine with me. Found my usual exfoliating facial cloths in a two-pack. As I headed to the grocery side, a guy saw them and excitedly wanted to know where they were. I told him and he rushed away happily. Got the very last bag of all-purpose flour -- all that was left on those shelves were a few self-rising flour bags and some nut flours. No butter, oddly enough.
Finished there and wheeled out to the pickup in a pouring rain. Saw a wallet on the asphalt, so I loaded the truck and took the wallet to Customer Service. Hope the owner finds it all intact.
Spousal Unit sent a text just as I pulled into the village 3.2 miles from us, saying we needed Bisquick. OK, stopped in the grocery there and they had it!!! They also had eggs, milks of various kinds, but still no distilled water. I think Mom's CPAP can use regular water in a pinch. Another place where butter was limited. Hmmm, guess that's the next panic buy...
While there, a guy was wandering around, marveling at how quiet and well-stocked this little store in the country was. He'd not been there before and needed eggs, so I pointed him to the egg display and made him very happy.
I think I got home safely, without being contaminated. Emptied the truck in a brisk rain, while Czarny ran in and out of the house, objecting loudly to the rain getting in the way of him going outside. He finally gave up and has been sleeping on the cat tree.
The county judge issued a stay home order effective today. I wonder if it will keep the tourists from dragging their germy/virusy carcasses out here, where the medical facilities are so much farther away? Maybe, but I'll not hold my breath.
Sun's out and a good stiff wind is blowing. Humidity is out the wazoo, though, so I'll stay here in the air conditioning. Meanwhile, the Mexican hats are blooming, a big lantana bush is starting to bloom, and the antler milkweed is almost ready to feed the monarchs, who are inbound. It's definitely spring.
Later, y'all.

I'm wondering about the butter too. What's up with people?
When it rains our cats shrug their shoulders and take over the bed. Or conduct a couch coup d'état.
I'm with you on the tourists. I see where the governor of Rhode Island is having their enforcement stop cars with New York plates and making them quarantine. I don't blame her.

Yesterday afternoon turned out absolutely gorgeous. The humidity literally blew away in the breeze. It was a great time to sit on the deck and enjoy some serious kitty time with Czarny.
Czarny tried to walk down the deck stairs hand rail, and when he started to slide, he dug in his claws and looked to me for assistance. I lifted him down to the steps and reminded him that's the way down. Then he tried hard to get his brother to come outside; Rudy finally did. As long as he could almost lean against my leg, he was willing to walk across the deck. Then he found the stairs. As long as he could look back and see me a couple steps behind him, he continued down to the garden. And then he stayed outside the rest of the afternoon. I do believe he's beginning to accept the deck.
It dropped into the 40s last night, and is only 72 now, with a stiff breeze. So the boys are inside, Rudy under the bedcovers and Czarny on the cat tree. For some reason, the last few days, Czarny has abandoned the topmost cat tree platform in favor of what we call the fuzzy teacup. It's a small round metal rod with light carpet that creates a cup-like bed, attached to one of the pole scratching posts. He's really too large for it, but the old cat phrase, "If I fits, I sits" seems to apply. He's decided he fits, so there he is.
WLToo slept in, just now getting up. Time to rummage through the leftovers for lunch.
Later, y'all.

Rudy acts like he might have some vision problems so he's reluctant. He might also have a little PTSD from his former life. We've had dogs like that.
Our weather's been pretty decent but there's storms headed our way.

Rudy's vision is just fine. He's simply afraid of anything new.
Today was foggy and rainy all day. Rudy did go outside with Czarny early this morning, but he doesn't care to have wet fur (memories of his after-skunk bath, maybe), so he came inside and stayed all day. Czarny does not mind getting damp and muddy; in fact, he insists on sharing his moisture and muddy feet with whatever I'm wearing. Sigh.
Mom moved into the Fifth Wheel yesterday. She said she slept great last night, and did not call us for an escort to the house until nearly 1100. Seems to be enjoying being by herself, with stuff organized the way she likes it.
Well, the cats want to play. Later, y'all.

PTSD then.
We're getting you're rain and fog today. It's dropping the pollen numbers drastically. Thankfully.

Well, yesterday Rudy got all brave again. He wandered through the fence to our neighbors' property. Stayed out until well after dark, and did not return until I'd been calling him a while. Luckily, today was very rainy, so he's been inside all day. The forecast is for more of the same through the weekend, so Czarny won't be happy at all.
Saw the does as we returned from a medical appointment. They were across the fence running away, until Leoghaire realized it was my pickup. Then she stopped and stared. That's been it for several days now.
Have a bad case of the sleepies, so I'll log off. Later, y'all.

It's wet. Real wet, as in the flash flood warning wet. Looks like this:

The blue is the swimming pool cover, about to float off the pool.
The cats went outside a few times, but getting water in their ears is not fun, so they settled down to a day inside.
Sister got some very bad news. Her home buyer bailed at the literal last second, which means Sister can't buy her new house. Turns out the buyer won't know until next week if she'll still have a job, so she panicked. After a bunch of back and forth, the buyer asked Sister if the closing can move to 14 Apr. Sister said yes, IF buyer pays more in non-refundable earnest money, then if she bails again, Sister might sue for breach of contract. The buyer thought she could engage a COVID-19 provision to get out of the contract without losing ernest money, but she jumped too early and does not qualify. Meanwhile, the folks selling their house to Sister offered to loan Sister the money so they can still close on time. She's been the only offer on that house and it's been on the market a long, long time, so they are very motivated to sell it to her. Depending on what Sister hears from her buyer today, she may be visiting a real estate attorney on Monday.
Meanwhile, between the state and the city, Mom may not get access to her stuff until late April or sometime in May. When we do get access to her apartment, we'll move her out and put her stuff into storage until Sister gets a new house (hopefully the one under contract). Mom can live in the Fifth Wheel until then, which will be infinitely cheaper than paying the outrageous prices at that complex.
Spousal Unit is frying onions. Must be near suppertime. Later, y'all.

Sounds like the ripple effect from COVID. I'm sorry for all of them in these uncertain times. Hopefully the buyer of your sis's house still has a job and will still go through with it.
Glad your mom likes the 5ver. We could do with some rain to get rid of the pollen. Everyone starts to get paranoid when someone with allergies sneezes.
Tell your sis to hang in there. As for the boys, I don't blame them. We had a cat that loved to sit in the rain and swim in the bathtub. Takes all kinds I suppose.

Looks like it will be cloudy and somewhat rainy all week. That's good for the plant life and the lake level, and might even keep the tourons from hauling their germy carcasses up here....
Leoghaire and her two older fawns (does, from the look of them) were just over the fence when I got up this morning. They were focused on something I couldn't see, then dashed away.
Yesterday, Rudy scared the snot out of me. Our resident fox trotted across the new deck, and Rudy decided to stalk it. Luckily for us all, the fox just kept going, only stopping to look back at me when it realized I was out there, too (we're well acquainted). I said hello, and it headed off on its evening rounds. Rudy had taken cover under the new deck and Czarny stood beside me, all fuzzed out but silent. We knew the deck would be right across the fox' to/from path, but did not realize the route would get altered to travel the entire length of old and new deck now. We'll have ample opportunity for close up fox watching, and hopefully Rudy will leave it alone.
They're about the same size, maybe the cats are a pound or so heavier, but I just don't see these two becoming playmates with it like Spotacus was. We never saw Spotacus and the fox actually touch each other, beyond nose sniffing. But they played chase and keep away fairly often. It was the keep away game that was so cute. One of them would pick up something, usually a stick or leaf, then the other would make like it was going to grab it, and off they'd go. Czarny and Rudy just don't seem that calm -- Spotacus was really laid back about life in general (except for dogs).
Czarny was so proud of himself. He caught a lizard, durn it. Lizards are the good guys, and I'd really prefer the cats not catch, kill or eat them. When I saw Czarny, it was already too late for that lizard. Will have to keep an eye out to rescue future catches. I'm not sure Czarny has well-developed taste buds -- he ate a daddy longlegs. Every other cat we've had tried one, spit it out, and hacked for a while. Czarny ate it and looked for more.
Mom's hungry. Time to feed her. Later, y'all.
