Sounds like the kittens have discovered belly bucking.

I'll have to keep an eye out for some Amish furniture places. I like that style.

Christmas was fun, and we didn't have to do much of the work. We gave each other FitBits, and we are becoming used to having something around a wrist again. Still learning what all the apps in it do, but its already being a nag.

Rudy has thoroughly planted himself at my side, except when he parks on top of the glider loveseat. Getting in all my steps for the FitBit is fun, trying not to trip over my faithful companion. Luckily, Czarny is not quite so determined to trip me up, or I'd not be walking anywhere.

Nice bit of rain last night, so we didn't have to add water to the pool. Otherwise, it's been dry, sunny and in the 60s/70s. Cooling off tomorrow, though, so we might have to turn on the heater.

We've not seen Leoghaire for over a week now, and there's one fawn that resembles hers going it alone, who doesn't seem too afraid of us. I do hope Leoghaire didn't run afoul of a vehicle or poacher.

Czarny wants to play. Later, y'all.

Time to get one of those baby slings for Rudy eh? Hoping Leoghaire turns up.

It was absolutely lovely today, in the upper 50s and sunny. Didn't need a coat when I went over to help at the library. Shelving books will sure add up the steps...

Now it's cooling down fast, with a breeze moving the wind chimes on the north porch. WLToo turned the heater on, not that I need it, with double barreled kittens on either side of me...

The doe herd was outside our fence this afternoon, but I couldn't see all of them, so we still don't know if Leoghaire is still around.

College roommate and spouse are joining us, Short and Tall Friend, and S&TF's recently widowed neighbor for New Year's. We'll serve munchies and beverages. I may make some Glühwein, if it's cold outside.

The boys are upset that I'm typing, so I'll stop and let them pet themselves. Later, y'all.

Surely haggis would be a novel hors d'oeuvre for your soiree. [emoticon]

[emoticon] The haggis!!! I forgot the haggis!!! Drat. Oh, well, next year, now that I have the web page bookmarked.

The weather turned a mite chilly for New Year's Eve, so the fireplace was a nice touch, once WLToo got the wood to finally burn. Took him three tries before it finally caught, which has happened to him exactly never before. We didn't burn anything today, even though it was chilly and raining, because we want it all for tomorrow, when it's going to be flat out cold.

Tall and Short Friends had a terrible start to 2019. First, his truck decided to short out, so it's in for repairs. Then on the way home from our New Year's Eve gathering, her SUV's rear window exploded inward as they passed a fireworks stand. Despite a thorough search for any projectiles, they found nothing to explain why the window went all splody. No indication that anything untoward had occurred at the fireworks stand, either. Just another of life's little mysteries, I reckon.

So tomorrow, we'll pick them up at the glass replacement place just down the road from our house, and they'll feed us brunch at the breakfast/lunch place that opened up last summer.

Meanwhile, WLToo and I are getting used to those FitBits. Amazing how far one walks just on an ordinary day. Looks like we'll ramp up to the recommended 10k daily steps (five miles) fairly quickly, and then I expect we'll lose a few pounds of ugly fat.

The cats have established an evening schedule that they do not want to change, even when the house is full of people. About 2000 (8:00 pm), they zoom. At 2100 (9:00 pm), I get double barreled kittens in my chair with me. It's always Czarny on the left and Rudy on the right. Then about 2300 (11:00 pm), they want to play.

Speaking of which..... Later, y'all.

We got over 2" of needed rain yesterday. Today is clear, sunny and gorgeous, in the 50s -- perfect for getting all my steps in outside.

Short Friend's SUV is all fixed. The Ford dealer claimed Tall Friend's F-350 was all fixed; he and WLToo are on a road trip to Cabela's just to make sure.

Otherwise, it's just been a lovely, lovely day in the Hill Country, except I've not seen any deer at all. Must be back in the wooded areas away from us, dining on the new shoots that always spring forth within hours of a good soaking rain. Even our coastal Bermuda is greening up.

I see it's suppertime already. Time really flies when you're not paying attention....

Later, y'all.

Of course a trip to Cabela's is mandatory to test repairs. [emoticon]

It's been absolutely lovely, so we're getting a lot of walking done. Each time we leave the house, Czarny gets a bit upset. Rudy just naps. As soon as we come back inside, Czarny tells us all about how he's been deprived of human time. At the moment, it's very, very warm and Czarny is adding to the heat on my left side.

We took the covers off the garden beds, now that the broccoli, cauliflower, onions and carrots can survive. Promptly harvested a small broccoli and cauliflower. Supper! Then sprayed for worms. If it's still nice tomorrow, we'll thin the carrot crop (or try transplanting them to keep 'em all).

Got a fairly good look at the doe herd yesterday. We didn't see Leoghaire, I'm afraid she's no longer with us. But the only two bucks we've seen all autumn are still around - an eight-pointer and a spike who stick very closely together. We'll miss interacting with Leoghaire. No idea if any other deer will decide to add us to the family.

I need to put on some shorts. Later, y'all.

The boys are at home and in charge it seems. Arthritis welcomes those furry heating pads to be sure. I'm sorry about Leoghaire. The seasons of life always move forward. Hopefully she will turn up.
