Well, here we sit in our new Forza, at the dealer's campground. The weather blew in and interrupted the PDI, so we'll start again in the morning. So far, we've only found four things on the punch list: can't find how to turn on the cockpit lights attached to the underside of the loft bed, loft bed missing privacy curtain, ice maker hose wasn't hooked up, and bed lights were hooked up backwards (left switch turns on right light, etc.). WLToo is about to test the shower and I've already tested both sinks.

In the morning, we'll test the microwave making breakfast.

Until bedtime, though, I'll be reading various instruction manuals, preparing for me driving her home. WLToo drove up here with the trailer and I drove L'Andante. He wants me to drive Forza home, too, and I'm fine with that. She's only 4' longer than L'Andante and not quite as tall, so unless the weather gets wacky with big winds, should be no issues going home.

So far, we're quite comfortable.

Spotacus stayed home. We'll introduce him to this one tomorrow, then take a short trip to continue testing out all systems.

But first, we have to clear out the big pile of stuff we took off both L'Andante and the trailer and decide what we want on Forza. I also have to come up with a name -- not sure why, as WLToo named L'Andante and I named Steinholz, but if he wants me to name Forza, then okay.

Still kind of shaking my head at how fast this came together, less than a month from "the Scottish trip" planned departure. Sometimes things just work out.

Later, y'all.

Short Friend suggested "Obi Wan," because the Forza's with us... Forza means "force" in Italian. It struck me funny, but I'm not sure it's the right name.

As I drove her home yesterday, I suddenly burst into song: They call the Winnebago Maria. She literally snorted, so I guess that name's not happening.

The only Italian I speak is music symbols, but I'm not liking Sforzando or any other Forza-based musical instruction.

Getting used to air brakes and air suspension is gonna take a while. The transmission is buttons on the left side of what would be driver's door, if there was a door there. That's certainly different.

Giving up L'Andante was very emotional. They parked her two pads over from the Forza. WLToo went back over to check for one last item, and left the door open while he looked. As the door moved in the wind, he said it sounded like she was crying. Wish he hadn't told me that; it set me off again, but at least the tears kept my eyes from drying out in the wind.

But on the up side, when the dealer rep walked inside, he was blown away by how nice she looks, how well-appointed she was in 2004 to today, and how well everything works. They were certain a couple of repairs and some detailing on the outside and a new owner would have her before summer's in full fling.

There were so many things in L'Andante that were just beautifully designed, that the lack of them in the Forza is very noticeable. Just annoys me royally when engineers and designers "improve" something that wasn't broke and wind up with a lesser something in its place. This one is loaded with so much stuff -- no GPS, though, which was a big surprise. Not that we lack one: the Rand McNally GPS for RVs is updated and ready to go.

Speaking of go, I need to clean up and head for the library. Will finish this in a later post. Later, y'all.

You could go with a famous Italian name such as Sophia (Loren)
OR
Amoruccio = My Love

Dolci Ricordi = Sweet Memories

Dolce Vita = Sweet Life

Menefreghista = Person who doesn't care

Fossa = pit (as in money pit). It is also an agile carnivore from Madagascar.

It's a very gray day, with the clouds low to the ground. About 1000, the rain blew in sideways and we got almost an inch in 15 minutes. It's slowed way down, but still dropping moisture. Everything was already spring green, but with the dust washed off, it's bright green everywhere. Absolutely beautiful.

Tall and Short Friends took their FW in for a water leak. Hope it's fixed in time for us to actually make this trip on schedule.

Spotacus is curled up on one of the kitchen island stools. He'd gone out about 0500 and back in about 0600, so he's good for most of the day. Making little kitty noises as he dreams.

One lone hummingbird moving around out there, and letting us know we need to refill the feeder. Everything else is hunkered down for the weather.

Guess I'll go make some nectar. Later, y'all.

Spotacus has thrown up four times today. He does insist on coming back inside right after he eats grass, and then he wants to be real affectionate. Great. Kitty barf breath in my face. Sigh.

Spent most of yesterday morning figuring out all the rules for bringing Spotacus with us on The Scottish Trip. Canada's no sweat - rabies certificate. Getting into US state number 49 isn't. Literally the last thing we'll do before departure here will be to get him into the vet for an exam, then the vet has to fill out a health certificate with entries appropriate for importation of commercial animals, not vacationing critters who will go home with the same people who brung 'em. Sheesh. And then it's only good for 30 days after issuance, so taking a full three weeks to get there will be kind of pushing it. At least going home won't be an issue.

We are slowly loading the Forza. Amazing how much stuff was squirreled away on L'Andante that I do not think we need now. With a washer/dryer, two sets of sheets/towels/etc is more than enough. A week's worth of underwear (ok, two weeks) shouldn't take up much space, leaving room for sweaters, sweatshirts, and assorted other layers for the many weather patterns we'll encounter. The only hanging clothes I'm taking are coats, so I'll be putting jeans, shorts, tee shirts, etc. into drawers and/or plastic storage we can stack on either side of the double wardrobe. They'll help hold the hanging clothes in place, too.

WLToo is working on a modification to our existing Gen-Turi. This generator exhaust is bigger than the current Gen-Turi pipe. He's also getting some suction cup fasteners, since we definitely don't want it permanently mounted with a front generator...

Well, I need a bit of lunch. The ropa vieja in the crockpot is not ready yet and I'm very hungry. Later, y'all.

Phooey. Had some abdominal pain. Now the doc has scheduled me for an endoscopy and as long as he's at it, a routine colonoscopy -- all on Monday. That means the cookout we're having for Mother's Day is for everyone else, while I'm confined to clear liquids. So tomorrow, WLToo will cook some of the sirloin roast that's been marinating since Tuesday in a whiskey, Worcestershire sauce, ginger, brown sugar, Dijon mustard marinade, so I can at least have a taste.

After a day of doing all kinds of stuff to get ready for the trip, the swimming pool felt absolutely wonderful. I do love that pool.

Spotacus napped on our wet towels and we all watched the baby barn swallows flap their wings as they took turns standing on the nest edge to poop. They'll be flying in another week or so.

Haven't seen any fawns yet, but it's still a week early. If Leoghaire maintains the same schedule her mama did, she'll drop her fawn around Memorial Day.

Well, bedtime. Got to take Mom to the doctor today. Later, y'all.
