Topic: What Did You Do To Your Class B Today ?

Posted By: goreds2 on 10/27/12 07:09am

Last weekend (Saturday). I took 5 friends on an 80 mile round trip for dinner in the Class B. Great exercise for it plus everyone went in on the gas. A win win for sure! I think we may start doing this every two weeks or at least monthly. Another couple may go next time. It can seat 8 comfortably.

See Picture In My Profile
I have a 1989 Dodge XPLORER RV Class B - Purchased 10/15/10 IN CASH
Fiance' purchased a Class C 2002 Dynamax Carri-go on 5/1/15 IN CASH
We've got the best of both worlds

We carefully took only the items we think we need from our 5er and packed them in the new / used RT210. Removed the 3rd seat for now. Have a number of small storage spots left but need to find a place for the cat litter box eventually. Parked it in my driveway (violation of our deed restrictions). No shore power connection yet, could not run the generator, so we survived on battery. Propane furnace kept us very comfortable; it was in the low 40’s (cold for us). Much more to do… Had a great time for our first night.

Here in upstate NY we are bracing for "Sandy". I filled the propane tank Saturday and parked the "B" near the house. I am ready to run the ONAN if power goes out. I am hoping to keep the frig and a few lights going if necessary in the house. It's an Onan 2500. Will it run a few appliances? I'm guessing it should! If not we can stay in the van and watch the news.

Evacuated my house as Hurricane Sandy tidal surge flooded my garage and local roads. Trailered my boat with the Roadtrek also. Wife and I and dog spent night at local shopping center parking lot along with many cars and campers.

Am concerned for MD, DE, NJ, NY and others up the coast that will get hit worse.

To accurately answer the question: "What DId You DO To Your Class B Today"--our answer (and those of others),is not really what we DID TO IT but sctually how, in our case, we USED ours, like many people do, to transport, for example, 150 Shoeboxes together with all the goodies to fill them.WE had 8 large cartons with boxes and all the stuff for under-privileged kids overseas or here(Operation Christmas Child). With these B MHs it is nice to be able to flatten out the couch and load everything inside. It sure saved a lot of time trying to move all that stuff in our Bimmer. Kind of nice to use it as a second vehicle but also one that makes our daily lives easier and is flexible in it's potential useage.

Last Saturday, I took it on an 80 mile round trip to dinner (Joe's Crab Shack). It seems like I put more miles on it during the fall and winter then the Spring and Summer. [emoticon]

I usually camp close to home.

The weather in PA was unseasonably warm today so I loaded my bike on the back of the Road Trek and took it for a nice drive to the local "Rails to Trails" bike trail. I got my exercise as well as the RT. Usually the only piece of equipment that gets exercise in Dec. in PA is my snow plow and snow shovel.

I looked at it and thought to myself that I need to clean the inside. Never got to it today though. [emoticon]
