Arlene and I replaced the rear door hinge pins. They were difficult to get out. Bushing were worn and 1 pin was rusting badly. Even with the spare tire off, the door was heavy. Told Arlene if you drop the door you can't go to the rally. She found some extra strength. When we finished with the door we started to cut out the new carpet for the front. Noticed last week when we removed the old carpet there was a gap in the sheet metal at the wheel well of about 1/8" by 3". This had caused water to get in under the carpet and soaked it the last 2 years. Couldn't find it until I took carpet out. Filled in the split with silicone and screwed the sheet metal together. Next warm day we will finish installing the carpet. 1990 L.E.R. Dodge B 250 Class B 17' ![]() |

It rained and with the tarpaulin now covering the rear 2/3rds there was NO sign of a leak. Which means that previously the rain ran along the gutter from the back to the front (vehicle on slight downhill slope facing the road purposely) and found a way inside. Despite two applications of Captain Tolleys Creeping Crack Cure. So I picked up a small tube of marine silicone at our local auto/marine hardware store and ran a very thin bead on both driver and passenger sides. Ran a second bead on both sides and smoothed it in with my finger. Covered up with the tarpaulin again to let the silicon cure. Sprayed it with the hose today and no sign of the leak. The inside fabric was sprayed with "Folex", scrubbed with a toothbrush then dabbed with paper towels to remove the stain and much of the moisture. Then a small fan was used to dry it out overnight. Where the passenger side gutter seal was covered by the awning the gutter seal was all dried and cracked, so a layer of silicon was rubbed into it. The silicon went a long way as there is at least a third of the tube left. Maybe silicon is not the right stuff to use on the gutter seal, but if I wait for a reply from Roadtrek, I might drown in the meantime!!! * This post was edited 04/01/15 10:45pm by senf * "Drive with Care, Life has no Spare!" 2008 Roadtrek C190V 6.0L Hella Fog, Nighthawk Driving, Halogen Reverse Lights, Fiamma Air Horn, Firestone Air Bags, Custom Bed & Mattress, Custom O/Head Tray. website www.sen-f.ca |

I had suspected that in my case, water was going in between the metal roof & the f/g high top, via capillary action. I'm waiting for a wee bit more warmth before i chalk. |

I finished painting the awning caps yesterday and snapped them on today. Cleaned the back of the awning and persuaded a neighbour to leave his own RV chores and help me put the awning on the Roadtrek. Lined up the rivet holes, pumped them full of silicon sealer and put the rivets in. Lubricated the awning arm knuckles and the stays with silicon. Wound the awning fully out and in a couple of times and it is ready for the summer sun.

Retrieved my RT from the mechanics. Apparently the fuel pump was messed up. $1200 later...ouch! Now to give it a bit of a detailing.

Waxed the roof of the Roadtrek and cleaned the plastic trim around the fiberglass roof where it mounts to the van with magic eraser and waxed it with Turtle Wax Ice. Now, ready to do the van body next. Bob |
