Topic: What Did You Do To Your Class B Today ?

Posted By: NoVa RT on 03/28/15 07:33pm

Reluctantly, I broke out the RV anti-freeze again today. I had de-winterized on the way South for an early March Florida Spring Training trip. I drained the water when I returned last week, but it stayed warm enough that I hadn't re-winterized yet. It's headed down to 25° overnight, so I figured I better not take a chance. Thought about just running the heat, but RV anti-freeze seemed to be the cheaper & wiser approach.

GaryKH - There was a leak on the driver side in the gutter. Experience has taught me that I can expect the same trouble in a similar area. So I am sealing the passenger side gutter as well.

Today, I drilled out the rest of each rivet, cleaned off the caulking around the rivet holes, temporarily stopped up the rivet holes, washed off the grunge and mould on the side of the roof, applied and re-applied sealant along the edge next to the roof. Now it can rain, overnight!!!

Tested the house batteries and drove the dogs to the beach. The dogs are tired, and my batteries are headed in the same direction.

My B is a 1977 Dodge Bubble top Camper Conversion.

I drained the oil and fixed a small leak on my oil pan caused by the PO bad mechanic. I used JB Weld on a spot about the size of a small pin hole. Before this the PO had been slathering on gasket seal all over the pan and it was still leaking. After draining I scrapped all of the old gasket seal off and and cleaned the area. To find the leak I poured some of the old oil back in and waited for it to start, marked it with a red marker and drained the oil again. When the JB Weld is cured in 24 hours I will add the new oil and inspect. Fingers crossed!

Well, all day yesterday as I haven't started yet today ...

I sanded off a good portion of the brown painted stripes as part of my prep before having the 1989 Dodge Explorer RV painted. As for today, I joined the RV net forum.

Please stay on topic folks.
If you want to discuss something regarding a particular post, please start a new thread or go to pms.
Too easy to for the thread to wander off course into never never land LOL so I'm staying pretty strict [emoticon].

Thanks

Ha! It rained overnight and despite my best efforts the leak still persists. Either Captain Tolleys Creeping Crack Cure is******or I haven't yet found the source of the leak. The latter is more likely!

I covered the front 2/3rds with a tarpaulin. It rained, it leaked! So I moved the tarp to cover the back 2/3rds. Now we wait for rain again! In the meantime I am re-painting the end caps of the Fiamma awning.

The folks at Fiamma are right on the ball. I emailed a question on Sunday night and had an answer by noon PDT. My enquiry to Roadtrek regarding the material used in the gutter is still outstanding - 4 business days.

Keep me informed as to where you found the leak! I also have this issue with a '96D 190P. I also suspect it is behind the awning. Thanks, Gary

Treated the black plastic bumper top covers on my Dodge Roadtrek, Front and rear.
Both came out pretty well. They had become quite faded over the winter. Also waxed the chrome part of the bumpers and grill. Lookin good!!
