As long as the "machine" is working.

One trip through Toad River, their phone line was down SO only those with cash were able to fill up. Options were drive to the next gas station or wait for the phone line to be repaired.

Thus, we always have some cash on hand and also always carry extra fuel in a gas can.

That's a whole lot of gas stations joe b and AK silvereagle list, I hope you don't mind if I put some of them on my website, invaluable info and good advise about carrying cash. Alaska is on my bucket list, just a little worried about the road surface with all that snow in the winter although we would go July/August I guess, advise on timing please. (sorry don't want to hi-jack your Post.rv friendly gas

Thanks so much for this info. We will go the first time in May. Several people mention "fuel"--it would be helpful to specify gas/diesel. We have diesel, and I know not every place has it--it does me no good to know the spots if they don't sell diesel. Thanks again.

This locator might help Chevron Search engine
The results show Diesel availability
Most gas and diesel suppliers have this locator facility, -as I'm sure you are aware, but this seams to be pretty good.

Note a couple of gouges - Tetsa River was exactly 50 cents (!) a liter higher than Fort Nelson when I stopped there last Fall, and today Carcross is 12 cents a liter higher than Whitehorse.

We just drove from Idaho to Alaska via Lake Louise, the Cassiar, the AlCan and on home in the Anchorage area. Fuel was available throughout and expensive I never let the tank run lower than 1/4 and that was a concious decision based on proximity to a larger settlement. All roads were rough especially the Cassiar. We boondocked through Canada as all RV camps were closed.
Credit cards were accepted but be prepared for the adjustment from American to Canadian when your bill comes.

We drove up last week as well...came up thru Cache Creek,Prince George
and into Dawson Creek up Alcan to Skagway. Road did seem rougher than last year however found Parks open entire trip some with only
electric. Fuel prices low 1.23 liter to 1.39 liter average around a
1.35 for trip. Best advice is fill up often and just enjoy the trip.

I was hoping somebody would mention this. We over-nighted there last summer and it's a great place to avoid. They advertise 30 amp hook-ups, but we found a rat's nest of 15 amp cords randomly buried. The grass was knee high, garbage strewn all over our site, and we noted the obscene fuel prices. Shortly after departing we were stopped at a construction area. The flag girl said that the company had rented sites long term at Tetsa, and everybody real unhappy about staying in such a dump.

Be careful with the mileages given - there's a mixing of Historic Mileposts and current mileages as given in The Milepost. From Jake's Corner to Whitehorse, for example, is 50 miles, not 21 (but it's 43 miles to the furthest-south station at Whitehorse).

I'm going from Whitehorse to Calgary to Kelowna and back to Whitehorse by motorcycle in a couple of weeks, and with a 235-kilometer range on my main tank will be stopping for gas a LOT, so will update the list as needed when I get back in early June.
