We'll be exploring some really unique areas while here... just as soon as Janet calms down from crossing the bridges. ![frown [emoticon]](http://www.coastresorts.com/sharedcontent/cfb/images/frown.gif)

When I was a young man we called this small State Park "Chief Cornstalk"
This monument has been here for a very long time. Janet is providing us with scale...
The park is outside the flood walls.

A quick glance at the bridge that we just crossed over the Kanawha River
These few very old houses are outside the flood walls like the park. You can see bits of the wall behind them.
That's our truck camper behind the tree.

and another...
I'm sure that you remember... there was no West Virginia.... it was all Virginia.
West Virginia became a State on June 20th 1863. This was in the middle of the Civil War of course.

Janet decided to take a break....
... can you see the flood wall? The walk through gate from the town side. In a flood Janet's seat would be under water... maybe a lot of water.

Quote: Normally "the end is in sight"... but Janet is getting more nervous... we have had several near misses ... having bridges fall just after we cross them... or a near miss
Three that come to mind, all from our truck campers view point...
The Skyway bridge in Florida in the early 70's (a barge hit the bridge pier as we crossed over it... a span fell behind us)
a section of the Courtney-Cambell Causeway between Clearwater and Tampa in Fla during Hurricane Agnes (we watched it in our side mirrors
and the Minn Interstate bridge accross the Mississippi a few years ago... we had decided to explore a side road turned off the interstate a couple of hours before it fell.
Janet hates bridges
Based on personal experience I would say she has a right to feel nervous. Can't blame her in the least.
