couple of additional notes I would like to add:

1. the nylon bushing can be really hard to get out, I tried the punch etc. What really worked for me was to hammer a mid size flat screw driver between the bushing and the spring, working my way around the bushing causing it to collapse inward. Then I could use one of the old bolts to knock it out.

A closed end ratchet from my Bal lock chocks worked great on the harbor freight tool, which is really needed with this install.

Yeah, that's why I went with the HF Ball Joint tool - very heavy construction... Don't know what type of C-clamp John used but he has a lot of heavy duty stuff that I envy [emoticon] ... In any case, I did mine with the HF Ball joint tool and then lent it to Barney and he did his with it...

If anyone wants to borrow it, let me know - just pay shipping both ways and it's yours to use, or if your close enough, come get it [emoticon] ...

Les how many miles on those nylon bushings, before the upgrade?

great job !!!

Thanks!! Not many miles at all, probably in the area of 10,000 or so... I think the wear is exacerbated with heavier trailers (makes sense) and my TT is close to 10K loaded

Hey Bob - always glad to load up your work schedule [emoticon] [emoticon] ... I haven't made much progress with the auto adjusters yet - need to see John's setup and then talk to Dexter again... I have a feeling that they want to sell just the entire drum assembly - and maybe that's the only practical way to do it, but I'm not ready to replace all my brakes as of this writing - have a LOT of miles on them yet - when the time comes I'll replace with the auto adjusters ASSUMING the reports from the field are favorable... It doesn't take me all that long to adjust my brakes manually [emoticon]

Les,

My Dexter K71-652-00 E-Z Flex kit was delivered today, just have to wait for the weather to settle down before I open my toolbox.

Thanks for adding another project to my list [emoticon]

ps: I'm avoiding your Dexter auto-brake adjuster retrofit thread [emoticon]

Ouch... what size are you using? Mine where 12" and have about a 5/8 thread on them which worked well.
