Great pictures. Noticed you only jacked up one side of the trailer at a time. I am getting ready to install the MorRyde heavy duty wet shackle kit. The MorRyde online installation sheet says to jack up the whole trailer for the install. I wonder why?

Thanks for the help.

Do you need to take the weight off to grease? I'll say "It depends"

Sometime the grease holes in the spring pins gets mixed up which way they are suppose to be pointing in regards to the weight of the camper pressing down on the hole. If you put a grease gun on the zerk fitting and cannot pump it in, (meaning excessive high pressure and cannot squeeze the handle) Then in this case jacking up the camper will take the pressure off and let it go in. OR you have to pull apart the pins, rotate them and put them back in so the camper weight does not cover of the hole shut.

If the grease hole is in the right location, then they will take grease with the camper on the ground and it goes right in no problem.

I grease mine with the camper on the ground with no issues. The grease will find the path of least resistance and start to ozz out the side of the bushing that is not sealed the tightest.

Hope this helps

John

Well, several of the bushing bolts wouldn't take grease the other day. So I'll take the weight off each side and try it again. Want to adjust the brakes anyway, but don't really want to remove any of the bushing bolts and re-align the grease holes. But will do that if lifting the weight off doesn't help.

I know all the bushings took grease initially, but then the trailer was completely off the wheels on jacks all around.

Lifted each side and all bolts took grease easily. If this were all I was doing, I wouldn't even have to put jack stands under it, as all grease nipples are easily accessible from the outside, and I don't have to crawl under.

Actually think lifting it up is the best way to do it. It removes pressure off all bushing surfaces as much as possible so grease will flow more freely, especially onto the weight bearing surfaces.

Yup, there is nothing wrong with the way you are doing it. It works. Thanks for reporting back

I did the wet bolt kit and Mor Ryde equalizer yesterday. I only jacked up one side at a time and had zero issues. Took me all of 2.5 hours do do both sides. Only issue I had was my bottle jack failed. Blew a seal and I had to go get a new one. You may want to think about getting this equalizer, makes a huge difference in the ride quality.

I have the Dexter 356 equalizer. If i went with the EZ flex would i lose ride height. I am unable to lose ride height.

What about the equaflex? Would I lose ride height with that?

The etrailer.com site has Q&A about the Equaflex versus the 356. There they point out that you would lose 1/2" in resting height. And when the rubber bushing is compressed you might lose more? The equaflex is also 1/2" less wide.

I had a similar height problem, and so just got the wet bolts and heavy duty shackles. Used the old equalizer. My trailer already had shocks so the ride was pretty good anyway.

I wish I would of measured before and after but I think my MorRyde 3000 raised mine 1-2 inches. Kinda like the trailer took a blue pill or something. I even notice it stepping up on the first step.

Shouldn't you not place grease on the brass bushing. The point of that business is to stay in place while the bolt rides on the bushing?

Correct. The bushing to spring eye fit should be dry.
I watched a video of some guy putting new bronze bushings on an old 2 axle non rv trailer. The nylon bushing were so worn out the spring eye was worn. He was just slipping the new bushing in. If you turned the spring sideways the bushings would fall out.
You want a tight fit no grease or oil. Press them in with a C clamp or use an old bushing bolt with flat washers over the knurled end to hammer them in.
