If you made 12 Billion$$$$$ in 3 months, would you try to get fuel prices down? well ask Exon/Mobile if they're going to.............NOT!!!!!!!!!!
Why should they? They are in business to make a PROFIT. If you want altruism, best to seek out a socialist society, but in looking around, those societies have a tad more problems then we do. It is funny how so many people are so willing to blame others for their excesses.

Are they american's, do they have a conscience, do they care that they are taking our country down!!! and believe me folks we're going down, because this problem is doing nothing but snowballing, maybe it's time we feel what it's like to be a 3rd. world country cause we're sure on our way! prices of everything higher and more ppl. out of jobs, now ain't this a fine fix we're all in? and who put us there?

Who put us there - That's any easy question. The president's and legislators for the last 70 years that have authorized deficit spending to the tune of hundreds of trillions (with a t) dollars. Deficit spending = weak dollar = higher cost for imported goods (as in oil). You looking for someone to blame? You can start there, or you can keep wasting your breath barking up the wrong tree.

Who put us there? Read the last sentence of my previous post.

Better yet: "It is funny how so many people are so willing to blame others for their excesses."

American's always want more, and now they are upset because they have to pay for it.

Go figure. ROFL!

The high cost of fuel is driving the price of everything up. I know it's making a big difference in my life. It's not that hard to figure out.

You fail to explain how Exxon's profits are to blame. We all understand that higher fuel cost impact most of us. Me more than you, probably. I drove 35,000 miles since mid-April delivering campers, as a transport driver. We have what could be an 80% turnover rate with drivers. They don't seem to be able to pay for their fuel and other expenses and still make a profit.

Almost 2/3rds of America's crude oil is purchased from overseas. Does Exxon set those prices? Who does? How are future crude oil prices set around the world? Does Exxon have anything to do with it?

The truth is, it is quite hard to figure it all out. Just look at how almost everyone here is pointing their fingers in every direction and telling us how they know who is to blame and the rest of us are blaming the wrong people.

If you blame the politicians, you are blaming all of us who failed to elect the people who would take more effective action. If you blame foreign oil suppliers, you are wasting your time. They know they hold huge reserves of crude oil and that Americans love to waste it. If you blame Exxon, you don't fully understand their role. They have many restrictions on where they can explore, so they can't supply the U.S. with all the crude oil they want. And does Exxon own all the U.S. refineries? I don't know but I doubt it. How much mark up is there on crude oil as it works it's way to the pumps. Are you forgetting to blame all those capitalists who are in business to make money for themselves and their investors?

people here are being so simple-minded when saying they know who is to blame. Why not just blame ourselves for expecting our government to take care of all our needs, while keeping our taxes low at the same time. We want more and expect to pay little or nothing for it. And now it looks like we can no longer put off paying for our decades of lavish living. I'm not happy about the situation but I'm not going to blame others for something my lifestyle helped create. I'm going to improvise and overcome.

It would be nice if this could be simple. Just watched "The Secrets of Oil" in the Modern Marvels Series on the History Channel:

http://www.history.com/shows.do?episodeId=322632&action=detail

Very informative, illustrates the many facets involved in oil production, products and distribution etc. If you have an opportunity to watch a re-broadcast it is worth the time. Couldn't find it on Youtube but did find this fact that was mentioned in the piece:

trivia: http://www.recycleoil.org/

"There are many practical uses for used motor oil. A primary use is to rerefine it into a base stock for lubricating oil. This process is very similar to the refining of crude oil. The result is that the rerefined oil is of as high a quality as a virgin oil product. In fact, rerefining used oil takes from 50 to 85 percent less energy than refining crude oil."

Think America is running out of oil? Think again. Read this report. Congress is on vacation, and doesn't give a hoot about their constituants.

The Messiah spoke in Michigan today. We must stop our useage of oil. Windmills and solar panels are the answer. Great idea, so simple. Tire inflation and tune-ups too. Madame Pelosi was on Stephy Stephanopolis's show yesterday, embarassing! This is the person in charge of the senate. We are in big trouble.

There are multiple problems with the economy, not just fuel prices. Not a true recession, but a loss of wealth (mostly equity in our homes). With tighter lending standards and no more equity to tap, we all have less $$$ to spend. The economy actually grew last quarter (although not by much, but did not decline). So in reality our standard of living may have declined, and we are probably a bit poorer than we were, and yes it sucks, but thats the facts.

Higher fuel prices are here to stay is my guess (and think of it this way, basically equivalent to a big tax increase). So we need to stop complaining about it, pointing fingers and just suck it up and get used to living a bit lower standard of living! Just be happy that we don't live on many other parts of the world where gas or taxes are even more expensive than here. And btw, last I checked, the #1 oil importer to the US is canada.

And regardless of what any politician says or does, when your $$$ goes up in smoke like the lost equity and paying more for gas, food, etc. the government can't necessarily bring it back or do much about it.

All these bandaid plans do is delay the inevitable in dealing with reality, and ultimately backfire, we either see higher inflation, wasting $$$ or both(how far is our country in debt this year alone)?
