There are many people who move into ND and move out soon after. They are not impressed with the hiring factors. Just because you move to the area does not guarantee a job. You better know before moving.

Detroit is bankrupt. That is undeniable.

Thousands are living in RV's and the apartments are filling up as soon as they are built. There is a lot of infrastructure work going on around the oil business and the personal required to keep them going. This includes all sorts of retail and services. Clicking on the link above gives some overview. People report having multiple job offers the first day. Truck drivers are really in demand. Detroit has lost 2/3's of their population in the last 30 years and there are 78,000 abandoned residences as well as many public buildings. You are part of a very small group that thinks it is a paradise. I don't go there, but you seem to spend a lot of time in Florida. Makes zero sense. If you hate is so much and they hate you, why do you keep coming back to complain? Life is too short to spend someplace you despise.

Some stations have raised their regular gasoline prices to $3.39 from $3.29. So we have a price spread of $3.21 to $3.39. There is talk of prices increasing another 50ยข a gallon. Diesel remains over $4.00 a gallon.

Gas prices predictions announced a few weeks ago to rise 50cents. That wasn't very true. In addition to the 50 cents it is now expected to rise an additional 25cents on top of that for energy used during blizzards. Now we are up to .75cents. Care to see how much more over 1.00 it will rise?

$3.45 a gallon for regular gasoline is the new "top" price. Prices vary from $3.29 to $3.45. Diesel ranges from $3.94 to $4.39. Not looking forward to $4.00 a gallon gasoline.

McDonalds in ND oil path pays $15/hour with a $2,000 sign on bonus. ...l

I looked all over at www.mcdonalds.com and couldn't find anying above $10/hr, most were $7.50/hr. NO signing bonuses mentioned.

I also looked at assorted ND job postings but couldn't find anything over $10/hr (most were $7.50), and the only bonus amount was $500.

I have a young friend who's interested, but he's not going there without something more firm.

Do you have a solid citation I can give him?

Seems that the local gasoline prices have leveled off at $3.45 a gallon. Of course, we are experiencing another Polar Vortex... Brrrr!
