I was thinking the other day, that we don't have a picture gallery on campgrounds that are located in Canada only. So here we go. Maybe there will be enough interest that one of the moderators will make this a sticky.

Here are a few pics from Stone Mtn. Provincial Park in north BC on the Alaska Hwy. The lake pics are taken from the campground on it's shore.

If that was Ontario it would all be surrounded by cottages

Stone Mountain is a huge Provincial Park, so no cottages there but even outside of the park area, there are few cottages. There's no cell phone or internet coverage without using satellite and the nearest town an hour's drive away. It's great if you want is to "get away".

North Ontario is beautiful too!

That "campground" looks like the side of a road to me and your other pics of "campgrounds" below that look like parking lots.

Where exactly were these pictures taken?

If you look right above the pictures you quoted, it says...

And the serviced sites are basically on the side of the road due to us having mountains.. (hows that for a SK jab..). which makes it very hard to level a site, unlike our SK neighbors..

All kidding aside, Tunnel mountain campground is a very nice one, and well kept. The best part about it, is your are right next to Banff (walking distance), and you can pretty much garuntee you'll see wildlife.

Is it the best campground in the world. Depends.. If you think the best campground is one that is surrounded by world class amenities and tourist attractions, then yes. If it's where you want to go to get away from that stuff, then no. The sites the guy has posted, are the serviced sites, which don't really have any privacy.

I prefer MT.kidd, but only because I'm lucky enough to live 60 minutes from Banff, and I can go pretty much anytime.

Our first family trip in the "new to us last fall" travel trailer.
Close to home campsite Golden Ears in Maple Ridge, BC.
Was a great trip. Did a close to home trip to get a feel for it and what we needed.
How about propane! Haha.
Ran out the second night, a bit chilly. Only 20 mins to the closest gas station from where we camped! [emoticon]

We all loved it.

We stayed in that same spot a while back. We were the only ones in the campground.
