Alot of places in the west are getting closed because people that have never been there vote to close it. Its not right if you arent a part of it. Imagine if the people in the west had the clout to close Central park in NY. How well do you think that would be recieved ? Enjoy it while you can. Great pics eveyone, might be a day when thats all you have are the old pics.

Close. That pic was taken north of Walden by Independance Mountain which is West of the Red Feather Lakes area.
Sadly, that area is in the center of the pine beetle infestation. The Colorado forestry department sent out a memo saying that all the mature Lodgepole pine forests in the state will be decimated within the next five years.

It's almost impossible to find this in the Mid-West, but since we;ve been out West, BLM land is everywhere and it's all free. I've always thought that people favored the West, but now that we're out here, I can see why!

This was a deserted campground we found in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Probably one of the most beautiful places we've ever stayed!!

I sure miss living out west ![frown [emoticon]](http://www.coastresorts.com/sharedcontent/cfb/images/frown.gif)

There are only two places that I know of to boondock in Ohio. On somebody's private land and Wayne National Forest. Wayne National Forest
The last pic was taken in a parking lot at the Monday Creek ORV area. It's not an established campground, but they will let you camp there. The bad thing about setting up camp in a parking lot is it can get rather congested on a busy weekend. Also, the other camps like to ride their quads past 2 am; making it difficult to get a good nights rest.
If you want solitude, go West. Here is another pic where we were only one of 3 campsites in the area. You can see out camper in the middle of the pic.

Our campsite tonight 1-29-2008 out in the desert above Lake Havasu on our way to Vegas for Super Bowl Weekend! What a beautiful area of the country! Millions of acres of free camping and no one as far as you can see.
Got to go, I think I hear the coyotes off in the distance...LOL
