Where do you fall against your truck's stickers say for GVWR and GAWRs?
Did you weigh the truck alone? Didn't you ask how much people typically load into their RVs?

I did ask in an earlyer post how much people loaded in their fiver. I have asked quite a few questions. This is a great place to ask questions.
Truck GVWR.....10000
Truck GCWR.....19500
Truck RAWR.....6100
Truck Max. Payload....3100
Cat Scale weight of truck alone:
Steer Axel..... 4080
Drive Axel..... 3200
Gross Weight w/full fuel, passengers and hitch.....7280

I have a 2004 F350 Crew Cab 4x4 and a 2003 Terry 5th wheel that is 11,000 lbs. empty. I'm guessing full of fuel and water and everything else my wife fills every little compartment with I might be at 22,500 lbs.

Finally made it to the scales, what a surprise.
5er - '12 Cougar XLite 26SAB \ Dry Wt 6755, Pin Wt 1150
TV - '08 Ram 2500 Laramie, Quad, 4x4, CTD, 3.73
======2500 Ratings===Without Trailer== With Trailer
GAW-F ==5,200.========4,629.=======4,608.
GAW-R ==6,200.========3,174.=======4,982.
GVW====9,000.========7,803.=======9,590.
GCW===20,000.=====9,590 + Trailer Axles 6,812 = 16,402.
Payload==1,970.========1,197.=======-590. overweight
Trailer Wt loaded, no water - Trailer Axles 6,812 + 1787 Pin = 8,599
The scales must be broken. Cant believe that the truck when loaded with myself, DW, Dog and a few odds n' ends but no trailer shows that my remaining payload reduces from the door sticker at 1970 down to 1197. Also cant believe that we have loaded 1844# of stuff in the 5er (which is supposedly 1/2 T towable).
The truck squats about 3" and is almost on the overloads but handles great and lots of pulling power.
Our plan was to upsize the 5er to something with a dry weight of 10,500# and a Pin wt of around 2,000. I figured I would have to add a leaf and/or air bags as seems to be the case with so many out there but based on the above wts a bigger 5er will put me in danger of exceeding a 3500's wt ratings. They say the only difference between a 2500 and 3500 is an extra leaf so perhaps thats my solution.
DW retires next summer and the following winter we want to winter in Az so I have till then to decide what to do. Any ideas would be most welcome.

Yeh Charli.. 2500/f250 don't have a lot of carrying capacity.
my 250 was 10,000 gvwt, and 8380 truck only (nothing in the bed).
leaving a total of only 1620 lbs carrying.

Your pin weight ratio from the factory was 17%; as you loaded the camper it's over 20%. Can you move stuff to the backend of the camper(or at least behind the camper axles)? Since the only place you are over is GVWR hitched that may help some.
The newer trucks have higher GVWRs and from what I hear higher yet is on the way. Lot's of competition in that area.

Unfortunately not a lot of storage room behind the axles. Kitchen is over the axles and then of course all the storage under the bed and in the basement plus the spare tire is under the front of the trailer. I do have 2 mtn bikes on the back. Perhaps I should be looking at a rear kitchen model next time which should help offset all the items stored in the basement of a 5er.

Truck Weight... Loaded with 2 passengers, gear, dog and hitch.
Front Axle: 5,150 FAWR: 6,000
Rear Axle: 3,600 RAWR: 7,000
Total: 8,750 GVWR: 11,700
Truck with Loaded ready to camp 5th wheel...
Front Axle: 5,150
Rear Axle: 6,550
Total: 11,700
Trailer axles: 10,100 Axle Rating 2 x 6000 = 12,000
GCW: 21,800 GCWR: 25,000
Pin Weight: 2,950 (6,550 - 3600) Dry Pin Weight: 2095
Trailer GVW: 13,050 (10,100 + 2950) GVWR 14,085
Trailer Cargo: 1,155 (13,050 - 11,895 Dry Weight)
GCW: 11,700 + 10,100 = 21,800 GCWR 25,000
I was a little surprised how much of our cargo weight of 1,115 lbs contributed to the total pin weight (2,950 - 2095 = 855 lbs).
Proving yet again... the published dry pin weights from the manufacturers are of very little help when considering your trucks actual payload capacity.
