What is that in pounds? I cannot believe a 34 foot 5th wheel to be very light. Is the truck a dually and/or a 1T truck?

If he has the 4.10 axle ratio, his truck's GCWR should be 30,000 pounds.

I weighed my 2011 Ford F-350 Crew Cab 4x4 Lariat short box with 6.7L diesel tonight. Also on the truck was an arrow cab height canopy and a few things in the box. Myself (230lbs) on board, and about 3/4 tank of fuel. Front Axle 4,840lbs. Rear axle 3,388lbs. Total 8,228lbs. GVWR is 11,500lbs. Looking good for my 5'er.

juzplanekrazy wrote: I don’t know if it’s been done before or not but I was thinking about keeping a running list of real truck weights by year and type, and trailer weights by brand, size and what the total combined weight is of each guys rig. I was hoping the info would be a help for guys wondering about what the real weights are for a certain type of truck and to keep track of the more popular brand 5th wheel trailers. Another thing that will come out of it will be to see just how many guys really know what they are towing and if they know what their weight capacities are.
I’m sure it will take some time to compile a list and it will grow as guys add there info but I’m hoping it will help the newer guys in the long run to be directed back over to this thread in the future.
I’ll keep the TV lists to mainly the big 3 and from ¾ ton and up and I’ll try to keep the 5ers in a group by real GVW, length, and then manufacture. Any ideas are welcome as long as it makes things easier. And only real information can be given, so no guessing allowed. Only guys that have scaled there rigs or are totally certain of the weights.
Let’s see if I can keep the format real simple to type down and that will make it simpler for guys to refer back to and to keep track of.
Here we go……
TV - 2006 Dodge Mega Cab 3500 4x4, real scaled weight with full fuel, hitch, DH-DW and misc. gear = 7,500lbs. TV GVWR is 10,200lbs
5ver – KZ New Vision TH 38ft 14,500lbs loaded GVW. GVWR is 18,000lbs
Normal running TV & TH GCW weight= 22,500lbs, TV GCWR is 23,000lbs
Real Wet Pin Weight=2,950lbs
2009 GMC 2500HD = 5,700, with my fat butt on board!!
2010 Jayco Eagle Superlite 31.5RLDS = 9,960, mostly loaded.

We had a complete wheel by wheel weighing today, with the truck and trailer loaded for travel. Weighing was done by Stacey and his wife at http://weighit.tripod.com at Casa Grande, AZ.
Truck: 2004 D/A CC SB 2WD. 400# passengers and dog. Tool box with Honda generator, some fuel and other stuff. Reese slider hitch.
Fuel was just above 1/4 full.
Trailer: 2004 Crossroads Cruiser CF28RL fiver. The kitchen cabinet sticker says it weighed 7300# dry at the factory. We had our stuff plus 1/3 full fresh & waste tanks.
Truck front l/r: 2025/2025 = 4050. GAWR 4410. Tires 3042 each.
(Truck front weighed exactly the same with and without fiver.)
Truck rear l/r no 5er: 1600/1575=3175. GAWR 6084. Tires 3042 each.
Truck total without 5er: 7225
Truck rear with 5er: 2900/2725 = 5625.
Loaded truck total 9675. GVWR 9200 (over by 475)
5er front l/r: 1750/1800 = 3550 GAWR 5200. Tires 2830 (E range Maxxis)
rear l/r: 1800/1850 = 3650
Trailer axle weight 7200
Trailer total 9650 GVWR 12395.
Pin weight 2450 25%
Total GCW 16,875 (don't have the GCWR handy)
Comments:
This is a pretty light trailer but the bed slide and front storage really puts the pin weight up there for such a relatively small 5er. I'd be better off running a full tank of fresh water (58 gals) in the far back of the unit. And/or better if I got a (solidly mounted) storage box on the rear of the trailer to replace the one in the truck bed.

Hi Snowman9000,
Congratulations on your first step to safe towing by weighing all wheels. Your trailer axle weight distribution is very good; good job! I have a few thoughts for you to consider.
1. It is best to weigh your rig when it is fully loaded and all tanks are full, (i.e. fuel, fresh water if you dry dock often, propane, etc.) just as if you're on your way to camp.
2. You state that the front axle weight did not change. That could also indicate center of your 5th wheel king pin is positioned nearly over the rear axle or most likely behind the rear axle. It's best to position the king pin center 3-6 inches in front of the rear axle. By doing this, some of the weight will be shared on the front axle therefore reducing some weight off the rear axle. Also, by doing this, you may discover improved towing and handling. If the king pin position is correct, then you're correct in redistribution of some of the weight to the rear of the trailer.
3. Find the truck's GCWR to ensure your not overweight.
4. You'll find some good reading material at Fifth Wheel St. as well as a printable weight safety report.
Your numbers indicate you're marginally overweight. But you could discover it's worse once you weigh your fully loaded rig.
