I was mashing the roof pretty bad also, so I screwed some pieces of aluminum expanded metal in between some pieces of aluminum square tube for me to walk on.

Now the entire top is like a patio and I dont have to worry about hurting anything!!

My DW is a believer in hanging stuff up in the closet and was always complaining that all the clothes would just be in a pile when we arrived at the CG or at home. I put a cup hook in each side of the closet directly below the pole and loosely attached two bungy cords around the tops of the hangers. If interested, I'll post a picture later.

Sorry I couldnt post the photos earlier, but the wife was out on an errand with the truck and I couldnt snap any photos.

This might not work for everyone, but if you have a heavy duty rack on the roof, then it is easily accomplished. I went to the local scrap metal yard, and had them cut the aluminum for me. I bought thick walled 1"x1" square bars and had a local welder weld them in place.

From the same scrap yard, I bought a 4'x8' piece of aluminum expanded metal, and cut it with a sawsall. I then took some self taping screws (Stainless) with large stainless fender washers and screwed the ehck out of it.

I can now walk around on the top of the cap, with no worries of damaging the top. This will also serve as a great platform while at sporting events where a better view will be had from above the crowd. You can see the Kayaks mounted on each end of the roof rack also.

All in all, the scrap cost around $100 and the welding took a few minutes, but a one hour minimum was charged at $50.

I figured since the cap cost a few grand, a few more hundred was worth the cost of not ruining it by walking on it all the time.

I'd be interested in seeing those pics...even if I have decided to implement one of the other mods on here and install shelves instead! [emoticon]

This is a bump/question.

I picked up 3 of the 12V fans at wallyworld for around 9 bucks each. I found the place I am going to put two fans above our bed (his and hers)....For power there is a light under the cabinet that I can tap into..now for the real, question...do you just tap into the power with no fuse?? or do you purchase a 800mAh fuse block and feed off that. The fans I purchased has a 800 mAh fuse in the 12V plug...I know its 9 bucks and if it burns up it burns up...no biggy....but I have a pretty nice trailer that I don't want to explain to the wife that a little 9 dollar fan started the fire...I think I'm ok just want to be sure...I could get a inline fuse holder to put the fuse in...just wanted to know what you RV's did...

thanks in advance. Looking at the other mods...I gotta get busy. just put a folding up table next to the sink...can't wait for that to be used....handy..also put led stick up lights in the cargo area.

We performed two operations on our camper this weekend:

1. I was getting tired of having the trash can sitting out in the way and have moved it all around trying to find the best place. Finally had the solution come to me...put it under the sink. Our sink is a corner unit which is like a cavern under there. We cut a hole in the side panel, installed some molding and have a place for the trash and folding stool.

2. Our camper came with a cheap radio that we really wanted to replace. My husband changed it out with a car stero and had to add inside speakers since the old unit had built in speakers.

False bottom of cabinet removed to get to wires and the install of the first speaker:

Finished job with new stereo and new speakers:
