Karen, Love your photos of sites. They're better than most Reserve America, etc, web sites. They often show just the site and not the road and shown empty. With yours, one can get a good perspective of the site. Thanks for the exact site numbers too.

Thanks, Renee! The Ponderosa site was lovely but was a bear to back into - rocks in all the wrong places. We needed some help from other campers to get it done.

Yeah, we see a lot of campground spots surrounded by boulders. Don't know why they do that!

Really don't know why the boulders in a SP, maybe to keep vehicles from going where no man should!!

Photos of area we regularly camp by a lake in the NF. For many years, there was a group of summer "squatters" that the Rangers didn't bother controlling. Something about a grandfathered agreement that allowed prev owners of land to stay there. Over the years, it went from 2 or 3 trailers to more than 15 usually. Nobody else could find a spot, and almost all of the rv's weren't occupied at most times.

Last year, doing our yearly Sept trip up there (to miss the sq's), these pics show what the Forest Service (new Head Ranger!!) finally did to control the problem. Does make it more difficult to get in and out of some of the "sites".

Our site this year and many times in the past:

None of thes rocks were there in 2013!!

This is a firepit that the past summer residents built, it was covered with a framework of 4x4's and tarped and backed up by about 3 cords of wood.

We used to be able to back into the site with the rocks and be right next to the lake. The second pic is what is now in front of the entrance that used to be used to back in!!!

Here's what part of what it used to look like in the summer!! There are more pics, this only shows about a 1/4 of the crowd>

And finally, the great site where we used to stay, but can't access any more.

Sorry to go of subject, but there are camping pics in here!!!

No worries, TUCQUALA, you're on topic. Boulders where you are, are one thing, but in a developed CG in a state park, with paved sites, etc., are another. [emoticon]

OK, back to pictures!

Wagonhammer RV Park, North Fork ID, site 31: back-in (or drive-in/back-out, for MHs), riverside, elec-water. Very lumpy and uneven but the most-shaded site in the CG.
