Very nice pictures. I'm assuming though that these are not recent, as in this week.

No, both spots are above 6,500 feet and getting snow now. This was this past summer. After going through all 294 pages and seeing some of the great pics I thought I would add our summer trips to the mix.

Quote: Hey Dirtyoil
On a regular winter weekend how many others are camping at Wapati and skiing at Marmot? I have been wanting to go camping/skiing in the winter but I always opt for staying in a hotel after some advise from my wife. Are you allowed campfires in the winter at Wapati?
JohnDeere...
Many times I'm the only one there, few times there might be 3 or 5 of us there. As for fires, the winter camp ground is a parking lot, there might be some "camp stoves" back towards the tree (think might be day time use cook stoves - summer use?) usually too tired after skiing all day to think "camp fire"...besides I'm always thinking of heating something else up... if ya know what I mean

Took off the week of Thanksgiving and spent 10 days camping! Including our first night at a Walmart!
We went to Goose Island State Park, just outside of Rockport, TX. Nice little park, friendly staff, clean restrooms. No full hookups so you need a way to dump your tanks every so often. We stayed at the Bayfront sites, which are literally steps from the water. One row of sites is right on the water, one row is across the road. Note - the beach here is not one for swimming, so don't bring the kids for that purpose. Lots of jellyfish too. The primary thing here is fishing, either right out your front door, or out on the pier. Also, the boat ramp was right on the inlet behind us, and the airboats would begin launching at about 5 am each morning as duck hunters headed out.
Here is our site #17, which is on the row across the road. There is no real pad, so you just put your trailer however you want. We positioned ours to block the wind to our shelter.

This is the view out the front. The row of sites right across from us is literally 10 feet from the water. There is a concrete bulkhead.

This is the view of the back side. There was a big grassy area that we liked because there was lots of room to play with the dog.

Standing by the water, looking towards the pier at sunrise.

We will definitely be back.

Returned home a couple of weeks ago to get ready for the holidays with the families. Here's some pics of Mustang Island Sp and Galveston Island SP. In our opinion Mustang had the prettier beach, but Galveston the better campground.

gramp1,
We were at Mustang only to leave on 11/4 in site 48. I noticed some of the same RV's still there. We moved up to Goose Island after that.

Garmp, those TX state parks are quite different that your MO parks. I love camping in MO.
