Topic: B+ motorhomes

Ours has a large flat screen mounted in the center pod between the upper small access doors, above the center of dash area above the motor home roof line.

Now that the tekkie showed me that it ~will~ work I have to ferret out the details on just ~how~ to make it acquire those signals again.

Odd, I can go out there & sit & read or do little chores for hours on end....but actually hooking up a TV is a LOT different than any kind of camping I've ever done.....

The challenge of doing it once should be enough to (re)learn which buttons to push....and oh yeah.....got to engage the antenna power-little green light thingie....and crank the antennae up......just not much of a priority but I still think I 'should' do it....almost 100% of our camping over the last 40 years has been dry camp without shore power OR water. Even in the trailers.

Funny how my heart still is drawn to this thread.
Snowman, your description of the result of the water leak is exactly what mine was like as I describe a couple pages back. I switched out all the OEM hoses for neoprene. In addition, as is my custom, if I even think there could be a waterleak, I'm sealing with silicone, and using double automotive hose clamps if I can fit them. Once I fixed my problem with my FW tank, it never happened again, even after I turned it 90 deg. for the rebuild. Those stock hoses are not much more sophisticated than above ground kiddy pool hose.
I have had every drain on the unit open at the same time and it takes overnite for it to finish, and there is still some left in the FWT. Like waiting for a new program to install on a computer...go have a donut.
We used our shower 99% of the time. I was the only one who tried a few camp showers, just to keep the moisture lower in the coach. I loved how well that little scamp of a water heater did it's job so well.
Driving the 213 is a dream and one of the things I really miss. It handles curves way better than one expects and can get out of it's own way easily.
Happy Holidays to everyone and I hope you are all having fun.

I have lately discovered that the likely reason I have had such terrible luck w/ the batwimng is I likely had not secured it to the power source wall plate - green LED - when last I looked ay it.

You might learn a thing or two in the thread below. I sure did.

I am anxious to get to a SP and try it all out.

I was afraid that flanking panel fely a but like thick cardboard. In any case, I sat where it would be good for me, and do not now think a full motion works for us there.

Ever since we took the OEM 24" tube set out in '07, TV viewing has not been comfortable w/ USB and all the wires. I would like to find a permanent spot for the new 19" Insignia, but seating availability and me needing to sit with face no more than arms length away is posing a big problem

Burl,
What about a wireless TV? I once bought some stuff from X10 to do that. My plan was to take a TV out to the back deck at home once in a while. Heck, I'll send the stuff to you if you PM me your address and pay the small shipping.

Now, I haven't thought it through, and maybe there is some reason it would not work on an RV system. But it should? I have the box here by my desk. "Audio/Video Sender & Receiver" model vk55A. Also a 5 in 1 universal remote. Not sure if that's necessary but I'd included it.

I don't see it on the x10.com website. Probably it is old tech, and won't do HDTV. I opened the box and see it uses RCA red/white/yellow cable connections on each end. So your antenna signal would have to be outputted some how to RCA and into the little sender box. Then at the TV you'd need the little receiver box, with RCA cables into your TV. Anyway, if you want it, it's yours. [emoticon]

Currently RV-less but not done yet.

Sure appreciate the kind and generous offer, but it fixes the wrong problem, I think. I csn figure a way to get elec and antenna wire from the upper right cabinet to anywhere I want to FIX the TV in place - it's finding that place that had bedeveled me since '05 when we got the rig. (It is an '05 model in case I've said otherwise.)

The problem is w/ me. Even at home, w/ a big 36" old tube set, I must sit no more than 4' from it to view, and usually have to lean far forware to read text onscreen.

The best working option we have is either set TV up (and take down) on dinette table while I sit at dinette and Martha on sofa. We can both sit on sofa using a TV tray for TV in aisle for 15" computer. Optics are funny, but doubling screen size does not double distance I can sit away.

I have had my mind on that plywood back to the dinette seat behing the driver's seat. If I could dream up a way to slide the TV up, then swing it out and forward to me sitting on the end of the sofa... I should have remained a mechanical engineering major back when!

Burl, we had our 37" home tv mounted on an OMNIMOUNT Bracket that had a swingarm, tilt and angle. I don't think it went up and down. That area where I think you are talking about is the curved piece screwed to the cab/coach area. If so, I had it off when I was doing my rebuild. Besides discovering about 100' of unnecessary wire, I think there is areas where you could get enough strength to mount one of those like we had. Maybe redo the entire area with 3/4" plywood so you can be sure that the area is really strong enough. You are only dealing with a 19" TV, which is not that heavy to start with. In fact when you put it into 'driving mode' you could make a bracket or shelf to keep it from shaking while underway. I used bungee cords for mine, but it was hidden, so looks were not as much as a factor.

Well. the 19 in is easier for me to see than the 15" computer, so now w/ the TV sitting at the aisle edge of the dinette table in up position, we can both sit on sofa and watch it. I cannot see great detail of a football game w/o leaning forward, but mostly, it looks like it is a winner.

Maybe we'll figure a nice carry case w/ the elec extension cord and a (to be looked for) flexible long coax cable that will both always connected to the TV inside the case and amp and power outlets in the cabover right cabinet.

There are various Jensen mounts that look pretty nifty. They all slip into a V-shaped piece that mounts on the wall. Point being you can mount it somewhere that might not be that sturdy, then pull it off for travel.

see here

We just talked and thought if we could create an old fashioned refrigerator door shelf on the backside of the fore (cab most) dinette seat plywood back - properly cushioned for travel - and when we want to use it, set up dinette table, reach over and lift TV from its shelf/holder, place on dinette table aisle edge, and watch.

Thoughts?

We used to do something similar, tho' in the front overhead. That got old, and being a brat, I wanted it to be easier, hence the piano hinged mount. However, your situation requires closer viewing. I assume you have the 19" already?
