Snowman9000 wrote: Burl, does your fresh water tank sensor work? In 2005 you posted that it did not work. Mine does not work. I think I mangled a wire but I wonder what your story is/was. To check the wires I need to determine how to remove one of those angled, carpeted panels that meet at the floor and wall. Wow, what a memory! Yes, when brand new, this was one of 4 things that warranted a return to the dealer but which I was able to fix myself. It was a failed wire splice near the water tank and within sight within the dinette seat space. Great find on the 'FIND' searchable B+ thread!!! 2005 Trail Lite 213 B-Plus w/ 6.0 Chevy

Aw shucks Gene.![]() Honestly I was just trying a google search on rv.net using the term B+ and whatever it was I looking for. One of the results was the entire thread in print version! When I saw the first post by Daniel C. I knew I was onto something. Burl, you give me too much credit for memory. I was searching the thread for the word sensor and saw your post, just yesterday. Well, I think I pulled the sensor wires too far when I was removing the tank for cleaning after we first got the MH. I didn't think about them and kept pulling, wondering why the tank was not coming out. DOH! ![]() They disappear under the dinette seat frame and head under that angled carpeted piece. They do not emerge into the other side of the dinette. I need to get that carpeted piece off but don't want to mess it up. I suppose I have to pull the carpet off first, then maybe it's screwed or staple in place. Currently RV-less but not done yet. |

Snowman9000 - Did you ever figure out how to unfasten (<-is that a word?) the carpet from that slanted piece? My unit has been in storage since you posted your comments, so I cannot look at mine to come up with suggestions. My first thought would be to drill a larger hole to allow a fish tape to be routed across and then pull a new wire. Except ????? I would not know where to route that wire. The other thing I would check is whether the sensor wires leaving the fresh tank might disappear under the coach body over across the walking aisle and then up inside the wall to the Level Monitor. I say that since the monitor panel on mine also has the propane level and the battery charge level that are also on that side of the RV body. Just thinking they may have clustered them in a run to the other side. Well, I just checked on your floor plan and it is so much different than mine that this paragraph likely would not apply to your unit. |

Gene, no I have not pursued it any farther. I think the carpet is stapled but I am not certain. I am pretty sure the wires run under the floor as you suggest. If I could just get a look at them, I might be able to fix the bad spot. I figure it is likely be bad right where it disappears under the dinette base.

We just spent five weeks in Texas, in our fiver. The space was really nice but we have decided to go simpler, so we are going to sell it. We have serious reservations that our Trail Lite B+ can hold both of us and the dog for any length of time, but we are going to find out. The TL is great for touring, but we don't know about sitting. In a perfect world, we would be going with a bigger MH. Or more likely, a smallish TT. But we have the TL, so we need to give it a fair chance. Our biggest concern is the evenings, when we would both be inside. What we are planning to improve it: - A swivel plate for the front passenger seat. Hope this will be a spot for reading, laptop using, etc. - A 10x10 screen room(with flaps for inclement weather). It fits into a small package and we can stow it. -Maybe a Little Buddy heater for the screen room for evenings. -Two good compact chairs. -Buy a little camp table. -Find a spot to carry our Dish Tailgater. I think all of this will fit even without employing the hitch rack I bought. In a few months, we will know.

Snowman9000 - That is one draw back of a short motorhome, they are not ideal for long term stays. The extra's you are planning on purchasing should help make the stay more relaxing. Are you interested in bicycle or motorized 2 wheel activity? You might consider a small enclosed fiberglass trailer to haul the 2 wheeler(s) and then have more room for those extra's you're planning on obtaining. Or a small bumper pull camping trailer to use as your "man cave". Something like this -![]() We like our Trail Lite as we are almost always on the move, rarely in one place more than 2-3 days. Our trailer has a motorcycle inside - great for sight-seeing. If the weather is not nice, sight-seeing is not fun anyways. I plan on selling the trailer some day for more than I paid for it. What ours looks like -

Gene, I love the man cave concept. I have noodled around before on this type of idea, but for some reason I never considered a simple pop up. I wonder how many CGs would prohibit the second camper? Some do. I could disguise it a little by removing graphics and getting some sort of business sounding name lettered on it. Something nebulous like Network Support Unit 53A. Or Cathy's Cookies. Anything like that. Might be worth a try. My thought was a small aluminum enclosed cargo trailer. Get one with a side entry door as well as the rear ramp. Put a couple of RV windows in it, some basic lighting and such. Etc etc. The CGs would not balk at that at all. Either way, I like your idea more, if the CGs allow it. We don't currently bike or motorcycle although we talk about how nice it would be to at least have one bike for running around the CG. For sure, if we were to add a trailer of any type, it would open up a lot of possibilities. A toad is another possibility, but it doesn't do anything for the man cave idea, except haul more goodies. |
