Below is pic showing TV mounting position![]() and this is the view behind the fabric-covered panel aft of the passenger seat. Shown are the three bolts that were used to mount the 3/4" plywood backing for the TV bracket. ![]() This is the bracket I used. I did replace the bolt on the tilt part of the bracket to allow for a firmer adjustment on the tilt angle. It came with a plastic wingnut and I felt it needed more tension to hold it on the road. Welcome Orion, you have always been my favorite constellation!! Your pix are great. I also remounted my flatscreen inside the box I built when I removed my tube tv from my '05 213. There are references to the pix somewhere, chronologically I believe they are around last December. Glad to see you read all of the thread! I can echo my friend Gene on how valuable the thread was when I made the decision to buy. Thanks again, Daniel C! I'm sure you learned an awful lot from all these pages, and don't be afraid to ask questions! That is what has sustained us all this time. Happy Thanksgiving to all!! Thanks Cheeze! Yep, Orion was my favorite, too, as well as the type of aircraft I flew in the Navy (antisubmarine patrol). If you check my profile pic of my rig, you'll see it's a clean slate. The prior owner had pulled off all the graphics (they seem to not last long anyway). I plan on painting it in the spring (warmer weather) but I can't decide what graphics pattern to go with. I'd love to do a full paint job like some of the newer rigs shown in the thread. I did see your pics. Looks good. I decided I'd use that deep TV bay for bedding/pillow storage instead. I'll have more pics soon. |

Funny, it was always the easiest to find in the sky in upstate NY, and I always wondered what all the fuss was about the Big Dipper! You do have a clean slate and that's now what I would like too. I paid for the 'extra' graphics when I bought mine and I have since removed the medium blue stripe and added a grey one on the passenger side but I don't like the sweep of the curve. I also think the insipid shade of the beige/gold color on the bottom is boring. I would love to paint over it with a grey hammertone. I think the new body paints are great. btw, I once looked up the cost of rv striping tape...it's pretty expensive. As for your rig, the sky is the limit! I would love to see what you decide. Lots of luck and glad you are here. BBtw, how many miles on the unit? |

Cheeze, funny you are looking to get rid of the bottome beige/gold color on the bottom as that was one of the styles I was looking to add! The unit has only 37K miles and everything works great (except had to replace microwave, $235, due to broken LCD display). We are restoring it to like new condition with many upgrades. - New sleeper sofa and matching captain's chairs in the cab. - Rear view backup camera/mirror - LED clearance lights all around - added driving lights to supplement backup lights - Max Air II vent - stereo speaker upgrade with audio amp (plays both radio and TV thru spkrs) - LCD TV - new carpet all through coach and cab - additional strobing brake/turn lights on rear Yah, I figured the graphics would be cost prohibitive. |

I think the color has gotten pretty common, and the grey is still kind of current. Some color seem to be "faddy' at times. The unit has only 37K miles and everything works great thats great, especially for the age! We are restoring it to like new condition with many upgrades. - New sleeper sofa and matching captain's chairs in the cab. - Rear view backup camera/mirror - LED clearance lights all around I would like to know more about these...any links?? - added driving lights to supplement backup lights do you mean front type lights adapted for the rear?? I've been thinking about moving my cheapo fog lights to the rear. - Max Air II vent - stereo speaker upgrade with audio amp (plays both radio and TV thru spkrs) - LCD TV - new carpet all through coach and cab - additional strobing brake/turn lights on rear Yah, I figured the graphics would be cost prohibitive. I think simpler graphics look better in the long run, and could easily be done with tape and paint instead of the expensive vinyl appliques. |

The clearance lights I used are Blazer LED lights which I got at Wallyworld for about $7.50 ea. I had three cracked lenses in the original front amber lights and I am powering the backup camera off of the center rear clearance light so I decided low-power, long-life LED lights would be worth the cost of changing all. Plus, they are much brighter than the old bulb type. Below is an image of the low-cost fog lights mounted on the rear for backup lights. I'm going to add a relay to power the lights from a more robust 12v source since it appears that the factory backup light circuit is insufficient to power the added lights (blew 20A fuse, but not 25A though seems to be insufficient current to light both lights plugged in at the same time.)

Orion, One thing great about the 211 is the fact that you have a REAL bumper instead of the plastic 'rear' on the 213's. I was one time thinking about removing the plastic 'cover/bumper' from mine and putting a real bumper there and then working out the trim somehow. My fogs are directly wired to a red 'glow switch' in the cab. They are terrible as fogs, and since they are not wired correctly thru the headlight switch, I won't miss them anyway. However, since they are directly wired, the power is good, so it's time to get more wire and put them in the rear where they will do 'some' good. Not sure if they should go under the rear 'bumper' or on top. They are under the front bumper now, but I worry about putting a good pair of fogs in that position. Anyone have any advice for fog light brands? As for the clearance lights, my main concern about mine is that many of the mounting screws are rusting. Anyone have ideas? btw gang, I still haven't found a solution for covering the tape stripes I attempted to remove from the interior... |

Cheeze, those should work fine as backup lights. For driving/fog lights, it depends what you're looking for. There are some excellent spot-beam driving lights that use the same bulbs as the luxury cars. As far as the rusting screws are concerned, the original screws are cheap zinc-plated screws thatl eventually are prone to rusting. Easily replaced with new zinc screws from Home Depot or better yet, stainless steel replacements. |

It's this time of year that I'm jealous of people who store their rvs in a garage. I would love to be able to work on mine in a nice enclosure like 'someone' on this list has! ![]() I was looking at the Hella website and saw very good reviews on some forums. I had a set on my '78 Scout and liked them alot. Having had a few cars with pretty good fog lights I do want the coverage a good fog gives. I think I will get stainless screws so I don't have to concern myself with any corrosion up there. |
