Wife sewed the curtains. We also did the valances. We removed the carpet and left the vinyl. Then put down an underlayment of quiet walk with vapor barrier. It is quiet, soft and warmer. I strongly recommend using underlayment of the type used for laminate. Tape the seams and staple down. The vinyl is Allure from Home Depot. Ours is the hickory. I have the cherry in my home office. I like this stuff. Wears like iron, quiet and easy to install. Removal of the carpet was hard work. They used a lot of staples and I had to remove from under the slide. Change blades on skill knife many times when removing carpet or cutting the vinyl is my best recommendation. I should have changed twice as frequently and I thought I changed a bunch.

My complements to DW. It always seems like there are double the number of staples used for carpet, and the ones that remain are a pita to find/remove. So you redid the valances with the curtain material? I would love to redo our valances and add curtains, but I must address my overzealous removal of the 'border' trim that runs around the mid-wall. Actually the valances are mostly upholstery. We found they were in three parts. The main valance and then two boards with different fabric nailed so that small amounts would show and provide a kind of trim interest. We made a valance for the kitchen small window as there had been none. All valances were the same throughout the moho so we made living area different than bedroom. Valances were very cheaply made so we reinforced and made them stronger and then it was cut the fabric and staple away. We acquired a new heavy duty electric stapler which was important. I have an electric nail gun from Black and Decker which operates off battery and shoots up to 2 inch finish nails which all came in handy for trimming. With the floating floor you add quarter round to hold the floor down and together. We also changed a couple of corner trim boards which had taken a beating. I need to drop cords for TV's down the inside of the wall or find some good cord hiding plastic to disquise them. Old ones are ugly and temporary. It is so nice to have one type of material on entire floor in living area. It provides an illusion of more space. We put a rug down and removed it as it made it look smaller. Cleaning the vinyl is very easy. A broom or a swiffer in about three minutes. We have an inside stair well. We left it gray. Easier to see. I was aftraid that if I matched it to the floor it would blend in which might be good for cosmetic but not for my night eyes so it is a little less attractive and yet clearly visible. Maybe I will come up with an approach that provides both. For now it stays. I like the inside stair well. Great place to drop shoes and keep them dry and yet not track in rest of moho.

Goldencrazy - Thanks for sharing your modifications, very professional looking. My tasks have been much simpler. One of the screws holding the framed valance to the wall came loose. Took some fine steel wool, rolled a small wad between my thumb and finger in the shape of the end of a sharpened lead pencil. Stuffed that in the hole and ran a screw into the steel wool packed hole, seemed to hold real tight. My next project was to remove the 20" analog television and replace with a 20" digital. Wasn't as bad as I had expected. Now to see if the base for the digital will hold up after traveling on bumpy roads. Managed to remove a plastic covering over the metal base and bolted it to a false floor I inserted in the TV cavity. I have already learned, I do not like the switch to digital only broadcast. Moved the RV to three different locations and had to do the 5-10 minute scan each time to find the available stations. 2002 Trail-Lite Model 211-S w/5.7 Chevy (click View Profile) Gene |

Hi, We are newbies to the Board and the B+ thread, though I have read this whole thread almost twice through! We have owned our 2002 Trail Lite 211S, 5.7 Chev. (same as Gene in NE) since last summer. We have enjoyed it very much. Our last RV (10+ yrs. ago) was a 27' Class C, so we really appreciate the size and usability of the Trail Lite. Thanks for the many tips posted on the thread. I too have enjoyed the descriptions and photos of the modifications very much. Our latest mod was the addition of a Sani-Con macerator pump. (Can you tell my almost-retired engineer husband loves gadgets, and the more expensive, the better?) He says it's for me, should I ever travel alone. I, however, remember the man who gagged at the idea of changing "loaded" diapers - or maybe that was his way of getting out of the job? As some of you are Trail Lite 211 owners, you can appreciate the logistics of the tight space involved and the question of where to find adequate frame support for the pump. I think he came up with a neat solution, based on the tips learned here and elsewhere on the Forum. He added a stainless steel plate to the bumper frame (the metal frame there extends up only about four inches.) This holds the pump in its housing and the switch. ![]() Then he mounted a section of drainpipe (narrower than the fence post cover some posters used, to hold the hose and sewer end. ![]() This is how it looks from the rear, with a latch pin to hold the sewer connection in place. ![]() He knows he'll have to be carefull with driveway curbs, but his mods do not hang down as low as the spare tire, for example. Anyway, thanks to all the users on this forum and this thread for all the useful information they pass along! (Even the Stinky Slinky diehards!) Regards, kelly Final edit: Should have read directions further. Webshots does not allow direct links, just hyperlinks from pages with lots of ads. I'll be switching to Photobucket. Thanks for all your help! * This post was last edited 06/15/09 07:02am by kellymisty * |

kellymisty, Welcome to RV.NET and the small family of Trail-Lite B+ owners. We anxiously await to see your pictures in the B+ Motorhomes thread. The source location of your pictures are okay, it is just the icon you are selecting when you are trying to display them for others. You need to use the icon that looks yellowish in color, looks like a sun or moon over some mountains. Usually, if you hover your mouse over the icon it will say "image". If you use that icon and you paste in your link to the pictures as you have (be sure to select a width less than 600 pixels), we will be able to see them just fine. 1. http://image71.webshots.com/171/2/65/49/2255265490100867683UmeoOR_ph.jpg 2. http://image64.webshots.com/664/7/76/25/2906776250100867683hIcnDk_ph.jpg 3. http://image75.webshots.com/75/2/2/73/2879202730100867683rwJhAA_ph.jpg You should see something like this in the message box you are typing: http: location......jpg width=600 Note: the start with and end with Tried to send you a PM (private message), but you have that feature blocked. |

Welcome Kelly, nice mods. Glad you appreciate this thread, its new readers like you that help us keep it going when 'threadgrouches' want to do away with it. On another topic, albeit a 'different' one, has anyone ever tried to convert a used helium balloon tank to compressed air storage? I don't want to waste my time if its a ridiculous idea. |

Welcome Kelly from another of the B+ regulars. You'll get the pic thing straight in a single 'Aha!' moment-- its just a matter of holding your mouth right as you manage your brain, instructions from us, software menus, and the keyboard!

Thank you all for the kind words of welcome! Thanks for the help, Gene in Ne, but I'm still doing something wrong. If you click on the truncated "here", it should take you to the webshots album, if you're interested. The three of you I recognize as particular stalwarts of this thread, and the passers-on of much good information! Thanks again! And, Burlmart, I even stood on my head, but it didn't help! Regards, Kelly |
