Anyone here know the approximate weight of a 79 Dodge Transvan 20' with dual wheels? May have a deal on buying one but it's not roadworthy so I need to figure out how to get it home.

Welcome!

Ummmm...I don't think I have any info on the Transvan, but I'll look on my comouter tomorrow. The championfleetowners.org has gone down and I don't know when/if it'll come back up.

Haven't touched base for a bit, not since returning from Florida with the Camper. Thought I'd pass the latest along.

Tried starting up the old beast recently, wouldn't go... I dug out the original 30+ year old rusted, corroded, melted ignition control (again) and she fired right up. These new units are absolute junk. This will be the fourth time I've replaced the new control, at least they're under warranty. You'd think it would be more cost effective to make ONE that worked instead of constantly replacing them under warranty.

Apart from that... can't wait to get camping!

Found an interesting conversation on another site where someone was asking advice on buying an old Dodge RV. The major consensus was that buying any old RV was a big mistake because they were low quality when they were built and the just got worse with age. Pretty much don't waste your time buy something much newer.
Not sure about the rest of you but I love my 80 dodge and wouldn't trade it for a brand new class C.[image]

Funny, I've spent less in repairs and upgrades than those I know with brand new RVs.

You couldn't make me buy a new one.

I spent 5 years as a RV tech at a dealership and have first hand experience in the new pos
