vaguirrebica wrote: I took two sending units and built one, You can find the info and photos on my old dodge rebuild thread, I could not find one that would fit the tank hole, Anything that the parts people sell don't fit because the RV builders use there own plastic tank and parts people do not know how to work with you to solve this problem, All they seem to know is what the computer tells them, Most any old dodge sending unit will be the same oms and you can cut the lower part off and attach it too your upper part and make one good working sending unit, And it cost nothing but the work, Unless you buy a new unit with the same oms and cut it to use the upper part of your old unit, Good luck this is a lot easier than most people think, You can use Brazing rod to put the two units together, Although on mine I just took a piece of the plastic/rubber tubing that is used in making some units and clamped the old top part to the new lower part, It works great.
whats up guys ..i have 79 dodge brouham with sending unit problems ![]() Without Trucks,....America Stop's |

DodgeLodge, Nice looking rig... we replaced all of our cusion covers as well.. My wife went with velcro instead of zippers and it worked fine(don't ask me how she figured it all out though) We used 5" high density foam for the seat cushions. I replaced my seats with seats from a 97 Dodge Caravan but it was a pain to do. I had to replace the base with some from a early 90's full size Dodge van and adapt them to the seats etc..... but, they are very comfortable and have the arm rests. Good luck with your rig, you will enjoy it. I don't think anyones dying statement ever contained the words "I wish I had spent more time in the office", so lets go somewhere! |

Trish Davis wrote: hola,DodgeLodge. 'Tis a nice rig. What Leeann says about the heat sink. Cushions: Keep your zippers! I am serious. Trying to find metal 44" inch zippers is impossible. Also, keep one of each section of the upholstery, you will need patterns. Measure first, but take them apart with sewing scissors and stash in 1-gallon freezer bags because the odor is not ..uhm, appealing. Do this outside. Look for 6" foam. Automotive upholstery, fabric NOT velour, will do you right. I made my 'new' curtains out of what was going to upholster the frt rr seats of a '48 Mercury. My frt curtain is made from its headliner. Hemmings, baby. You can find anything on hemmings.com. I dunno, those old Dodge van seats are comfy... Find a chair that will bolt to the existing base and save yourself much grief. Look to put another spring in the rear for support. Metal fatigue happens and "re-arching," or heat-treating, the existing springs is way too spendy. Drum brakes are awesome, adjusted properly, they will do you fine. Look to the coach mounts directly behind the seat and either in front or directly behind the rr wheels. Rubber mounts dry up, the coach lists, yaws, rubs on top of the black tank and you lose your mind in the racket. Urethane mounts. Hemmings, again. Alignment after new tires. Yeah, it needs shocks. Monroe NOT Bilstien. Monroe makes Bilstien shocks. Listed in the NAPA catalog, Dodge brake parts & suspension, BSP-VI-05 is mine, probably out of the 09 catalog now. You will form a love-hate relationship with NAPA. No, really. Thank you for all the great tips! I put all the cushions under my 10X20 car port "tent" but I'll remove the zippers and keep samples as you suggested. I have a heavy truck repair place that has done great honest work for me before and I trust them to check out the front suspension/bushings/brakes and make recommendations, plus they can do the alignment. They can also add leaves to the springs. I can't wait to get started. 1978 Dodge Shasta M-25RD "The Dodge Lodge" 440 4BBL 727 Loadflyte 49800 miles work in progress.... |

I love the interior layout of your Rig Dodgelodge ! You can have 2 poker games going on in there at the same time .![]() If your engine is cranking over slowly and the battery is Good , i would first check to see if it has the original battery cables on it. They were usually undersized when new , then add 30+ years of corrosion and they don,t work to well. Also A later Model Mini Starter from a 1991 -2000 Ram pick up or van will bolt right in with minor mods to the power cables and will spin that old 440 over much faster and draw less current than the original type starter and they weigh a whole lot less as well. A Good electric fuel pump will do away with any heat soak /vapor lock issues on the fuel system. The original engine mounted mechanical pump and fuel line routing puts way to much heat into the fuel and the gas these days boils and evaporates alot easier then the fuel availible when these old rigs were built. |
