Haven't a clue. Haven't gone to a single race this year. It's been a mess...we are hoping to take the RV out this weekend to a reasonably local race, but we won't be racing. But the marathon nationals are held, as always, in Michigan (Top O'Michigan) - Indian River, Crooked Lake, etc: http://apba-racing.com/internal/show_sanction.php?EditID=10940 '73 Concord 20' Class A w/Dodge 440 - see profile for photo |

The bf says it's probably the gas thermostat, that it's never calling for the larger flame when it needs to cool. They have 2 flame heights: reduced when no cooling is called for and full when cooling is called for. |

Makes perfect sense to me... just like it did last year before I first started talking to the guy at the shop. He wanted me to try all this other stuff first. Gotta give him credit for attempting to save me money. He is very knowledgeable, and a nice guy to boot on top of if all. |

Hey, if it worked, it was cheap, right? Oh, well. The gas t-stat can't be that much, can it? If that's it, of course. |

It's got bunks in the back. We have taken it out once since we got it back in May. It went ok, we've got work to do. Fuel gauge doesn't work. Keeps throwing power steering belt/power brakes. House heater doesn't work. It has leaks. and almost every fastener on the out side is rusted. And I can take naps going up the pass. I am thinking of a re-power, possibly a diesel swap. But... We still like it. I like it! Nice buy. (Also, good to hear from Trish) See Picture In My Profile I have a 1989 Dodge XPLORER RV Class B - Purchased 10/15/10 IN CASH Fiance' purchased a Class C 2002 Dynamax Carri-go on 5/1/15 IN CASH We've got the best of both worlds |

Hello...We are back from our maiden voyage....What an adventure! We bought this camper from a mechanic who said it had an engine fire, but he replaiced/rebuilt all of the damaged parts. Well, since it was under the dog house, we took his word for it...he seemed honest enough....besides, the air conditioning worked, the stove on top worked, the water ran, all of the pumps worked....We were thrilled to get such a deal! On our way there, the dog house was pouring heat, so we discussed fixing it when we got back. We had 3 wonderful nights and then started back home. In the heat, every time we stopped, it stalled. We finally got it going again, but it was acting wierd. We have some friends that own a campground and we stopped there for the night. After pulling in, it stalled again, only this time we had to push it into our spot. Dead batteries??? We charged the batteries and thought, well, this is a simple fix...on our way again. The 1st stop sign....stalled again....AAAAARRRRGGGG!!!! Well, long story short, we got it home and took it apart...the carb was jimmy riggged open, the air filter was charred (never replaced)...whole engine charred from original fire....no true replacements done. So, now, we have a delimna...we are willing to do the work, but trying to find info for the beast is difficult....I've seen all types of posts of people asking for manuals...and no one has responded to them. We are in desperate need of a correct schematic for wiring and EGR hoses (and a free carb--Carter 4bbl by the way, ha ha) for a 76 Dodge F40--440 engine. We have been trying to cross refrence engine componants...Is the F40 the same as the M400? Also, is it simiar to the Dodge B200 3/4 ton van? Thanks so much for all of your information. We really appreciate the help and are trying to get our pictures sized to fit so we can share our gem

76Sunshine, There is a lot of engine info here. It sounds like you may be having vapor lock problems. |

You'll have a difficult time referencing F40 OR M400 at most parts suppliers. As long as your dealing with motor stuff... I typically tell them mine is a '78 with a 440 in it. Often referencing a B300. (Since the Vans didn't have 440s in 79) Chassis parts are a little more Challenging. Sounds like a perfect excuse to upgrade the carb. Getting one on there that isn't gerry rigged will probably go a long way to solving the stalling problem. Mine didn't want to charge the batteries when running either. A new Voltage regulator solved that problem quickly and haven't had another problem since. I remember pulling into a gas station once, and needing a jump start to get 'er going again. The final incident before we figured it out was driving home at dusk, and having the lights eventually dim to non-existent and the engine finally die... |
