Yeah, that's what I usually do. I'm planning to boondock at Slab City in SoCal this winter for 3-4 months and I'm looking for just the right low-priced C to refurbish while I'm there. I'm going to hang a Honda CT90 on the back and use that for supply trips to town. Then I just may end up having to haul a Dodge axle the 35 miles into El Centro on the luggage rack!

Ours is a 1979 Dodge class C and it has the independent front suspension

Ok,I guess the best thing is for me to go look at some. I see many of these on the roads and on Craigslist, etc. all the time. I'm not sure if I want to take on as big a project as you did there oldtrucker but I'm up for some fairly serious redo stuff.

Thanks for your reply!

Have you ever had any frontend work done to it? Ball joints, etc.? Oldtrucker63? Do they jack up the price even for alignments 'cause it's a MH?

Have you ever added breakerless ignition (MSD,etc.) to an older small block? If yes, which brand and did it work OK? I'm looking at a '72 tommorrow with a 360 and I think that's the last year for points.

No, I haven't but I'm going to when I finish building the '69 318-3. I'm planning to go with Dodge conversion (Mopar Performance).

I have not had any frontend work done to mine But anything other than a frontend alignment I would do the work myself its not hard to replace anything in the frontend I think the hardest would be the ball joints and thats not to bad if you have the puller/knocker Whatever ya call it to knock the ball joints out with, The rest is really easy stuff.

Hello,

As much as I hate to say it, I sold my 1976 TEC today. I had two great years out of it but decided I just need a Class B type van for my camping needs. It sold in just 9 days via CraigsList. I think the big selling point is that it is just 16 feet in the cab area. An elderly couple bought it.

I will miss it and always will remember it being my first RV. The users on this thread are awesome and I thank you all for the great information you gave me.

Who knows, maybe the Class B van I end up getting will be an older Dodge! [emoticon]

Thanks again,
goreds2

I had the front end aligned when I first bought mine in 2002, about $65.00 I think. The guy did a good job but suggested I needed to replace a couple of tie rod ends and the steering box needed to be replaced, but added that his experience had been that the rebuilt boxs were not that good either. Estimated about $900 [emoticon]. I have replaced the rotors, brakes and brake lines, but have been working on rebuiding the roof and some interior lately. Fixing the tie rods is next on my list, so far, nothing has been too hard. After all the work [emoticon], I have been thinking about a class A just for a little more room if I see something that might fit our needs [emoticon].
