Finally had to consciously pick a time frame to park the camper for a few days to do some cleaning and maintenance. lol. The Fridge REALLY needed a defrosting. The kids have also developed a habit of bringing a few toys each time, but never bringing them back into the house. Going to spend a few days 're prepping' the camper. Generator question for ya'll... The generator is installed, and runs, but doesn't seem to sense a load. I can' manually increase the RPM's on the genset and kick in the compressor on the AC, but it never rev's over an idle on it's own. I honestly think the genset is fine, I'm leaning towards a ground on the RV's converter/charging system. Just curious if anyone has had a similar issue, and or... solution ideas. |

1977 Dodge Sportsman 440-3 here. Bought it the end of June 2010 for next to nothing and took off on a 1,200 mile trip 4 days later. It ran like a top! This is my first RV and I absolutely love it! Looking forward to many, many trips in this beast. I'll post a pic in my signature soon, but in the meantime, I have a question. Above the couch is a storage cabinet. The cabinet face folds down into a bed. I can't find any info on this "bed" on the Internet, or in the original owners manuals that came with the RV. It doesn't look like a customization, but I guess it could be?? My question is: is there a board or something that goes over the folded down bed? When it's folded down, there is a recessed channel where the hinge is, and two "holes" that make up the cabinet openings when it's folded up. I know I'm not explaining myself very well. I'll try to post some pictures in a day or so. 1977 Dodge Sportsman 440-3 |

Welcome! Annie, what coach maker built your RV? Dodge Sportsman is the cutaway van chassis the coach maker built your rig on top of. Mine, for instance, is Concord. Plenty on here are Tioga, Champion (same as Concord), Titan, Coachmen, etc. I have a storage cabinet at the back with slider doors in it that folds down to a bed. The pieces are kept together with a piano hinge. There is no need to add a separate board to stiffen the bed if a child is going to sleep in that bunk, but I'm not sure an adult should sleep up there without additional support. I have a front bunk that's made exactly the same way, but no storage access holes. '73 Concord 20' Class A w/Dodge 440 - see profile for photo |

Hi, I *think* it's a Minnie Winnie MW23RB. Here are a few photos. Facebook photo gallery When looking at the photo that shows the back end of the camper, you'll see a wrought iron divider. You can see a lip on the divider - that's what the front of the cabinet rests on when it's down. It's also held up by two steel cables - one on each end. |

Question for LeeAnn, Didn't you have a problem with your coach battery being overcharged and how did you fix it... I had this problem coming home the other day.... I may have fried my coach battery... my dash guage showed about right, but coach battery was way hot.... didn't seem to be bothering the engine batt. I don't think anyones dying statement ever contained the words "I wish I had spent more time in the office", so lets go somewhere! |

MichiganAnnie Do you have photos of the cabinet folded down? I'm not sure what you are asking exactly. Is there a folded mattress up there now? Are you planning on using this as a bed, or just curious? |

Well...after our initial summer trip with the '77 Dodge "Green Machine", we lost the drive shaft. ![]() Fortunately, we were going ~20 mph when it let loose. Bought another 77 Dodge RV for parts, and got our RV running again last week-end. The "RV for parts" originated in the South, so the underbody is in excellent condition. Cabin is not a project I want to tackle right now, so it will be a spare parts bin. Worth the purchase price in tires and rims alone. * This post was edited 07/28/10 11:44am by mbryanr * |

MichiganAnnie, my coach has the exact same fold down bed setup or I should say "Had", as I just changed it to just a cabinet. Mine was a factory installed bed just for kids. It had two inserts for the inside of the openings at the doors and two 1 1/2"-2" thick foam pads for them to sleep on. I think the weight rating was about 120 lbs. max. Hope this helps some.
