Good for you. It's not hard, and doesn't take long at all.

For all you American Clipper fans, there is a pretty nice looking one on the Boise Idaho craigslist today... I can't do the link thing as I am pretty much a computer moron but go to boise's craigslist and look it up.. the guy is asking 2500 for it. He doesn't list the year but it looks mid to late 70's dodge chassis 440 engine. They are nice looking rigs. Every body out there have a great weekend... I don't think anyones dying statement ever contained the words "I wish I had spent more time in the office", so lets go somewhere! |

Well, just a quick update on my roof and framing rebuild. I finally figured out how to get the overhead bunk framing out, so got that removed and rebuilt. Now I have to clean off the walls for that area (old glue and such), get that area leveled out, put in the insulation, make a pattern for the launn and get it installed. Then I can install the bunk framing, insulation, and top layer to finish off that area. I installed the first (front) piece of ceiling launn. I'll tell you, trying to get that to bend at the nose area without cracking was not an easy task. May have been hard partly due to the cold weather, don't know. Things seem to be coming along faster that I was expecting. I'll have more pics soon. Al, you're right about the American Clipper. Nice looking unit. Hi everyone, Im new to the forum I have a 1975 Dodge Coachman Leprechaun 22' with 65K on it. I'm in the military, stationed in North Carolina but live in VA so I stay in the RV during the work week and come home on the weekends. A lot of guys that also do that stay in RVs so I thought Id give it a try instead of living in the barracks or renting a place off base. I got a good deal at the campground on base. Now I can see why its so easy to get hooked on RVing, its a lot of fun! My MH has been very well maintained and gets a lot of compliments at the campground. Everything is like-new 1975-vintage including the orange shag carpet and orange range. The fridge, furnace, a/c, etc all work flawlessly, I dont think they were ever used. It has a 360 4 bbl and an RV cam. Im a big time Mopar fan with a couple of Dodge and Plymouth musclecars and a few spare 440s in the barn that Im considering swapping in later. A Cummins swap would be pretty killer too since the 360 has gotten a best of 8 mpg over flat ground. It wont win any drag races but it had no problem smoking the new big dollar diesel RVs on the mountain roads in WV on a recent camping trip. I want to get a set of Alcoa wheels to help shine it up a little. ![]() |

Welcome, Lt Dan! Real nice-looking rig. Looks like it might have been garage-kept, it's so nice. Swapping in the 440 will give you more power but not better gas mileage. 8 is almost the best we ever got (I got 9 but that was completely empty). We had no trouble with our 440 on the mountains on the PA turnpike pulling the race trailer - in fact, we passed a ton of big rigs. Putting a 6BT in would be sweet...lots of power, gobs of torque and better mileage to boot. |
