Topic: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

Posted By: Leeann on 03/30/09 07:44am

Yeah, we found mirror replacements at the junkyard - and Trish claims she's going to give us nicer ones [emoticon]

Damn, Eric - that's pretty cool. Great find!

And yes, I've already warned Trish about the heat load - our almost totally white Concord gets hotter'n hell in the sun; I cannot imagine how hot a flat black vehicle will get. The silver roof will help, but....

At least she has a working AC unit now, that's all I can say.

And if it wasn't for Leeann and Sam, I would not have a working A/C.
Which is now painted flat black --and looks really good.

Yep, you get my big chrome mirror heads to put on your white mirror loops, which will work on the Concord. Travco's getting flat black mirror heads. They're somewhere in the "Travo Pile" in my dining room.

BUT. If I paint it silver, people will think it's an Airstream.
Sorry, can't do that, I grew up with an Avion.

I'll take a walk with the camera and make sure these wheels are the right ones for you. If so, I'll grab 'em fer ya! [emoticon]

And, you are correct about spidered gel-coat. Nothing you can really do to fix it without really fixing it. Even bed-liner won't do the trick in this situation...

She ain't purdy, but at least she's slow!

Well I owe Leanne more pictures. I just about have the bathroom done, shower included. I have a few more moldings to put up and I want to double check the caulk in the shower. I do have a little surprise, I did not use the ABS panneling. What I used turned out really good.

On a sidenote I did get a set of air "shocks" not bags for the rear end. I am going to try them out they should do the trick and get the backend leveled side to side for me.

Things left to do, find a way to recover the dinnette cussions, make a new bed for the cabover, cover the walls in the cab over and finish moldings up there.

Outside, change oil at some point, it's got 1,000 miles on it since I changed it, but it sat all winter. Install trans cooler, recharge cab air, install air shocks, and then hit the road.

I should really try and find ONE rim for mine. I still have the 16.5, 8 lugs on mine. The PO had a flat, and decided the way to dismount the tire was to throw it into a bond fire. The heat pretty much destroys the rim. I wouldn't trust it.

So... anyone out there convert to 16" rims want to donate a 16.5"? [emoticon]

I need a 16.5 spare tire and rim also. There are a few used tire shops in Columbus, Ohio which I will try.

See Picture In My Profile
I have a 1989 Dodge XPLORER RV Class B - Purchased 10/15/10 IN CASH
Fiance' purchased a Class C 2002 Dynamax Carri-go on 5/1/15 IN CASH
We've got the best of both worlds

I'm giving away my 16.5's. I promised them to a woman up north who needs them for a trailer (which makes no sense to me), and if she finds they are incorrect, you guys can have them! 4 dually and 2 conventional (per old Dodges).

Hello,

I am new to the forums, and absolutely love these old dodge motor homes. My question is if anybody uses them for towing? I would like to pull a couple of 4 wheelers behind mine, if i decide to buy one. Also, what could I expect to pay for one?

Thanks in advance.

Hola, Hondacamper...

Short answer is "it depends."
Leeann tows with her Concord that's got the 440 /727.
I will tow with my Travco (but less weight) with the 318 /727.

Word: stay away from any late 70's Chrysler lean-burn, especially the 400.

Thank you, sweetie. ;0)
Measure the buggers first, though, before you go breaking them down.
6-bolt, 7 1/4" centers.

Yep, cracked gel-coat is insert-nasty-epithet-here.
I cannot possibly afford to have it done properly. West System will fix a lot of the issues (busted bit under the step, Big Box, etc) but to do the entire Travco with it --too expensive!

Flat black it is, then.
