Would probably have a York compressor mounted at a 45 degree angle on the front... Not too hard to get it out and would be a "bolt in" on the engine and then just finding a place to put the rest of it in the cab of the "A". Ken * This post was edited 03/04/09 08:32pm by Kendas * |

I see a few posts about No Dash A/C on the old dodge chassis. I found this place ackits.com that sells a few different complete kits for dodge vans from the early 70,s thru mid,s 90,s. There not cheap though , but not to bad either for all the parts included. Unfortunately they only list them for smallblocks but i,m thinking they sould work on bigblocks with the right compressor brackets and pulleys. http://www.bouchillonperformance.com/BPE4700.asp Once it warms up a bit I,m gonna mock up a sanden style compressor on my engine to see how it fits. |

Mine is an external and I have to figure out a way to fasten the cord to the generator plug in while in transit. The cord would come from the rear drivers side. I just don't want the cord to dangle. ![]() |

Goreds 2, couldn't you just set it pu to have an internal cord from the generator to the RV body and then over to the inside where the shore power cord is now? Leeann I am jealous of your set up. I have the compartment in the rear, that would be good for a generator, but, it currenly has the house battery in it and some of my leveling blocks. I have a 3.5k contractor grade generator that would fit with minor modifications to the coach, and obviously exhause system set up, both are not a problem. I just need to relocate the house battery, not to much of a problem. The issues arise with fueling the generator, and starting it. To start it I would have to pull over and get out open the compartment and pull the cord. I would need to set up a kill swith inside the coach as well for it. Not sure what I am going to do yet. |

We have this inside the rig (the one on the left):![]() Fortunately, no cord to pull. The switch on the right was unknown, so we just removed it and put a 12v power outlet there for the kid's toys. The house battery is in the front, right next to the coach battery (with the isolator in between). There's room for that on an A.We have a compartment on the other side of the rig that holds the blocks, tools, etc. - it's the same size as this one (rear U-shaped dinette). The water tank is under the back part of the dinette (makes for one heavy butt when it's full). The pic I put previously has the original exhaust on it. We had to replace that because just about every pipe was rusted and leaking badly, so the bf made a new pipe with black pipe (gas pipe from your local big-box hardware store) and 2 flex pieces we already had, plus a motorcycle muffler we already had. He even made a new resonator essentially the same way as the factory did (the fatter piece above). Most of what you can hear when the thing is running is the air that blasts the ground. ![]() ![]() |
