Well, after much talk with the wife we are going to keep the old girl. After much talk with my dad about the performance issues (in my mind) we are going to dial her in a little better. This all based on an '84 24 midas my dad has with a 350 Chevy in it. Chevy has a 4 barrel I have a two barrel, but 360 vs 350 should run the same. My dad's chevy will run 80 mph all day long without breaking a sweat. Chevy has 4:10 axle as do I so, we think they should run the same. I don't want to run 80 but 65 to 70 would be nice so I can keep up with the old man. So 1) rebuild carb (currently I have a hot restart problem. Shut down for fuel, 10 minutes later have to floor it while cranking to get to restart. Hot engine only) I figure carb is in for a rebuild solve hot fuel problem might solve some of performance issues. 2) look at going from single 2.5" exhaust to dual 2.5" exhaust Those are the starting points. I am not trying to accelerate fast, just go 65 - 70 mph down the highway with some power to spare. |

I just overlaid the old panels and sealed it all up with silicone caulk. Didn't take long and looks much, much better. Eye: glad it worked out for you... its funny that your local homedepot didn't have the stuff as mine has a rack full all the time. I thought those places all had the same stuff... anyway glad it worked, your rig is looking real nice. Same stuff - it's hideous. The one wall is water-damaged and peeling away, so it needs to be replaced. The other walls are mostly sound, but ugly... ![]() '73 Concord 20' Class A w/Dodge 440 - see profile for photo |

You do not have a hot-start issue, you have a typical carburetor issue that you, the operator, needs to over-come. This isn't computer-controlled EFI, which you are probably used to. Also, I'd stay in the 2.25" exhaust size range. Going larger only gains a benefit in a race type application. Staying with smaller pipes will improve low-end performance, which is really what you want anyway. Your 2V carb is a dog, no ifs, ands or buts about it. Toss it to the bottom of the closest lake and go for a 4v set-up! ![]() Eric She ain't purdy, but at least she's slow! ![]() |

Also two 2.5" exhaust instead of one 2.5" exhaust instead of one, that's got to be good right? |

Leeann: I wish we lived closer as I would gladly trade you shower surround work etc. for you and the BF expertise on the mechanicals. I am not that great of a carpenter but I am much better at that than the mechanical aspect. My son used to live in York Pa. so that would have been a workable deal, see him and fix your shower, but he moved to South Carolina so not so close to you now. You can do it, really not any harder than putting down the laminate flooring and you guys did great on that. A. |
