Topic: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

At least you have your priorities. [emoticon]

We stayed in our RV for the first time this year over the weekend. Hooked water up, found a few things that needed to be tightened.

Apart from that, we secured the water heater, and the fresh water tank.
Replaced one more strip of molding that had shrunk.
Took our first steps backward, as I realized with the rear skirt attached, I could not get the eternabond or the expanding foam up there So we loosened it, and sealed everything up there, then put it back.
Installed the lights for the bunks and the bathroom, and put up the curtain rods and curtain in the bathroom so my oldest son could be the first to "break it in." It was apparently a big deal to him.
Tested out the gas for the fridge, and the stove.
Welded up some repairs to the fold out steps so they weren't so slanted down anymore you don't feel like you're going to slide off them anymore.
Found one leak in the septic plumbing right at the waste valve for the black tank... of course... where else would it be, right?

Planning on loading up next weekend, and going north. I can't wait to spend a weekend LIVING out of it instead of working on it.

Hey, we'll bleed them before we leave, I swear! [emoticon]

Woohoo! Hey, sometimes you do need to take a step back so you can take two forward. Sounds like you got a lot done, even staying in it.

Yeah, that's where we have our one leak. I think we got it this time, but time will tell...

I can't blame you one bit. Going to the UP? We're headed to northwest PA ourselves. And I can't wait, either.

Well I am bummed. I started lineing the shower area with this vinyl stuff I found at home depot. I used liquid nails for shower surrounds as it said it was for vinly and plastics. Well I got the ceiling and 2 sides up sat and it was looking real good. Had other stuff to do out of town on Sun. so this morning I looked in on it and everywhere the liquid nails was used it has sort of buckled the material. Its still attached and doesn't look like it shrunk but instead of being nice and smooth like it was when I installed it, its kind of wavey or something. I think it will still work but it just looks pretty lame. Not sure what to do with the last 2 walls now... thinking maybe just using the tub and shower silicone stuff I used to seal around the edges as it looks just fine.... not really asking for advise, just wanted to vent... like I said I was really stoked on sat. and bummed out now... oh well,, live and learn.

I don't think anyones dying statement ever contained the words "I wish I had spent more time in the office", so lets go somewhere!

Sorry, Al [emoticon]

Sounds like that stuff reacted badly with the vinyl...

Yes, but will they all feed on the road this time? [emoticon]

Have a good time on the trip and let us know how it goes.

I'm with Leeann... I've used the clear stuff on the window rubber that had shrunk on the bathroom window and the rubber has been a little soft where the Liquid Nails has touched it since.

I think Liquid Nails does have something in it that reacts with rubber/plastics/vinyl (Toluene maybe? Note to self - Must check the label on the tube).

Yep, we fixed that issue. Really - drove off the rear and middle tanks on our test run yesterday.

Liquid Nails has never worked right for anything, for me. I don't buy it.

Posted By: ALnCORY on 08/25/08 05:15pm

Like I said, live and learn... the material I bought gave 3 different adheasives to use and liquid nails was one of them mentioned... but yeah it definately reacted badly with the vinyl...

Note to self... when doing the bath area... don't use liquid nails. Please PLease Please let me know what else you try/use. I'm in the same boat. I need to build a shower surround. Thinking about using that off white creamy colored fake tile looking stuff, but will need an adhesive that won't wreck it.

Leeann. We were invited to go to Charlevoix with some racing friends of ours.

I think I just fixed the black tank valve leak. We'll find out this weekend. I want to let it cure for a few days before adding any water. I was able to clean/scrape off the old seal. (Probably why it leaked) and create a new, tighter seal with the same 'goop'. If that doesn't fix it, I can cut it off and do that section over for about $7.

Still looking for speedo info though. [emoticon]
