Topic: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

Posted By: Goatmaiden on 04/01/08 09:11pm

After spending the weekend with the RV and talking more with people, we are feeling very happy with our purchase. It is a beautiful engine (pics soon). So far I think the transmission needs the most help. Other than that, we’re replacing hoses, filters, plugs, etc. and it has all gone very well so far.

I'm sorry, but you are incorrect.

The 400 only has troubles in stock form due to the emissions modifications, but it can be one heck of a runner with proper modifications.

I'm wrong a lot. No big...

But, yeah, I should have qualified that with "emission controls in place," though.

Yo Budd - what are these mods you do to the 400 ? I have one that is in a van that I might put in my boat - instead of a 383.

Ok, I realize that this is not exactly on topic, and "horrors" it's a ford, but I've been diligently searching for a class c 26ft to 30 or so, and the last one I found got sniped from me. GRRR!
However, any in put on the one below would be REALLY appreciated...

Or a lead on a class c, Dodge, in the 26- 30ft range would be equally welcomed!

Thanks everyone!

OH, some days I am too blonde for myself. Here's the link...

Go ahead, laugh, I did. (and this is the least crazy of the day....)

Okay, I'll try to ignore the four-letter word starting with F on the grill [emoticon]

It looks like a clean, well-maintained unit, fully loaded with goodies. Looking at the roof, it looks like the PO kept it sealed, but you never know until you look in person.

The tires will have to be replaced. It's a Texas vehicle and RV tires die from sun, not from use. But any RV tire over 5 yrs old needs to be replaced, so that's not a big deal.

It does have a front exhaust leak as listed by the seller, but, as he said, it's not a big deal to fix.

I would look at comparables and see if the price is reasonable. I'd also look on Craigslist in addition to eBay; the advantage of Craigslist is you can go see the unit before purchase.

OK. Leeann, Ferdz aren't that bad- I've got an old '82 F-350 flatbed
called Ol' Whitey- in my estimation, I am more partial to Dodge, but
the old fella was headed to the salvage over a minor problem- a timing
gear and chain set. I paid the slackjawed drooling idiot P.O. $50 and I've been laughing ever since.

I woulda called him 'Mater, but that's taken.

Mark - a guy I got behind the other day had a mid-80s Ford pickup with cap. He'd painted the top of the O with matching paint so his tailgate said Furd

I laughed my butt off all the way home.... ;D

countess - I don't know about there, but I found a 1908s 26' Chevy-based Class C around here on Craigslist for about $5k.

Doing some planning...

Looks like it will finally be above 30 degrees here this weekend for the first time since I got in over my head... lol.

I have a lot of work to do... and am still hoping to hit the road beginning of May. I have to replace the Gray water tank, but that's going to be 3 weeks out or so for it to arrive. How hard is it... would it be... to install that> If the plumbing above it (including shower/tub) is already back in place?

Heck... what's even the procedure for installing such an item? The original had a surrounding lip that was drilled through and mounted directly to steel cross beams attached to the frame.

Not looking forward to the work... just the hopeful end result. The rear bunks are out... the GW tank is gone, shower tub to be replaced... I need to pull the fresh water tank, the hot water tank, bathroom wall, then replace the ceiling, floor, and wall paneling with new stuff... I'm putting fake wood floor laminate in place of the ragged carpet... and then I have to put it all back together... I'm sooooo freaking out about it all right now. Especially since I haven't found any real good descriptions about fixing this stuff online.

Answers/suggestions appreciated. Wish me luck.

I don't know about your rig, but this is how mine's attached:

Note I only have a black tank, not a black and grey. The mounting should be similar, though.

Hey, no freaking out allowed! You will be fine...I swear. The laminate floor's really easy (if we can do it, anyone can). We still have to do our ceiling and walls.
