>And all of your interior is there.

yeah...im already thinking of tearing it out come warmer weather....im a finish carpenter, my buddy is a fantastic upholster....we should be able to pull it off....ugh...

>You did good....

did i?!?! thanks for the vote of confidence....hummm....i got this anxiety thing going.....like im in over my head.....dont know diddly about any/all systems on an RV...tanks, plumbing, electrical, mechanical.....kinda overwhelming...esp since im living in it....wonder if i made the right choice.....i did only pay $1000 for it.....drove it from where i puchased it to where it rests now (about 10miles).....my buddy (the upholster) says i did good....that i could easily turn around and sell it and get my money out of it if need be....ugh....

>Plus I love fringed lampshades, they're so "ho-house Victorian."

yeah.....puts the cherry on the "Stabbin Cabin" thing....70s swinger style....ugh....

>Get those marker lights replaced right away, you have NO idea how >much they leak.

thats good to know.....as i do see some water damage inside on the ceiling....ill look into that......rain is coming next week they say....ugh.....

so what are people doing for heat? my furnace doesnt work.....temporary elecric heater? windows and such....gonna need lots of replacement parts - refer, windows, vent hatches, plumbing, electrical...ect....any good places on the web to order this stuff?

Uhm... you ARE in over your head.
So are we all.

Yeah, I relate. I have no clue how half the stuff on my Travco works or what the switches are all for. I did find out about the gas tank switch, though, and did that suck.

NOT a kerosene heater!

eBay. You can find anything on either eBay or craigslist.
If you need it right now, there's the junkyard. I swear by junkyards.

You're a carpenter... forget all that "sturdy" stuff and remember the rig has to "give," it will flex like mad in motion, in heat /cold, or just because.

really?!?! wow....thats encouraging.....as yers looks fab now! what you got into it? time, money...ect....major stuff....im probably going to gut it and start over with a plan of my own....but right now im livin in her belly....summer comes we will see....

Actually not quite a grand including the insurance, smog, and tags. If you look at my profile you'll see what I've done to it.

Time? I don't have no time, I'm working on the RV. [emoticon]
I've got probably 200 hours in it, but I sleep in the brick house my wife and the bank own so it's not like I have to live with the construction (destruction) or glue and paint mess/smells. I take my time and do what I can when I can afford it. I've still got to reseal the front and rear vents and the cabover windows but I've got the time, just need the money.

Leeann said to use the 3M 4200 for re-sealing your windows.
Probably have to order it at Ace or True Value.

If it's Eternabond you want, search for "mhrv" on ebay, this guy sells Eternabond at hell-a-cool prices.
$55 for a 4x50 roll and free shipping.
Got a slew of sizes, too. I treated the Travco to some 1" dbl-sided stuff, will use it in the bathroom.

when i was building motor-yachts back in the 80s we sealed/bed everything with 3m "5200"....this stuff was bulletproof, not sure of the extact difference in the 4200 and 5200 products.

5200 will NOT come off - ever.
4200 probably will come off. Important if you ever need to replace a window...

never worked with 4200, but the 3m website does say that the 5200 is more permanent than the 4200....so id say the 4200 would work better for these applications.

Well Trish, I've found that Best Materials has the best price on the net for Eternabond that I've found so I'll probably use them. For the cab over window, I was thinking of just removing the window, and sheeting over with sheet metal since we don't use the cab over section. Got pictures off here of a set up that someone did that turned the area into the entertainment center/more storage.

What kinda metal? What is your skin made of?
Tarp that frt window and wait until I've experimented with the West Epoxy...
I think marine epoxy is the way to go. It's lighter, it's forever, no screws so no drilling.

I've also been thinking about the "flex" issue in regard to rebuilding the Big Box.

When I drove limo, those cars flexed like mad; empty, they sounded like being inside a drum --no kidding. And they ALWAYS leaked. The brand new limos leaked and in the same areas new RVs leak: roof, large or long windows.

I took a lesson from the pre-War and to-'49 cars --fender welting!
Fender welting (originally thickly rolled cloth, now rubbber replacement) will give me a tight seal yet allow that back end to wobble about. It's gonna.

I've got a whole new appreciation for "aircraft consctruction," it wasn't just a marketing ploy.
The only time our Avion ever leaked --in 25 years-- was a wheel well rivet.

eBay. Where else. I got 15 yds of grey welting, bought by mistake.
