Get 2 mini mag lights. Unscrew the bottoms, then turn them on.
Set them down upside down and viola --instant mood lighting.

i just bought a 1980 dodge jamboree rallye 23', that had 60K miles on the 440 engine. the previous owners had done some good work to it such as new tires, brakes, fluids, etc. i bought it on ebay and it was out in california, so a buddy and myself got a one way flight, took a lot of tools, and picked her up. the only real issues with the rig are the fuel gage does not work, there have been a few roof leaks in the past, the gas filler neck bezel is shot, and there are some wiring issues with the main control panel switches. however the onan fires up fine, fridge works, stove works, vent above stove, exterior and interior and in pretty good condition for 27 years old. we spent about 5 hours fixing various little things in the auto parts store parking lot like the dual operating arm on the windshield wipers and getting all of the running lights, blinkers, and brake lights going, filling up with oil, filling the tires, etc. then we filled her up with gas and headed east towards our home here near austin, texas. we thought for sure that at some point in the middle of nowhere that something was bound to fail, but the further we drove her the better she ran. we started out going 50 to 55, and then as time and the miles passed we slowly worked the speed up until by the time we were within the last 200 miles she was cruising happily at 70. a couple of questions for you more experienced people- 1. i noticed that on n.a.d.a. you can't get a value for a rig this old as they only go back to 1989- anyone have an idea what the approximate value my motorhome is? 2. where can you find replacement parts?

As for Question #1 - After your Post up above, I would say PRICELESS!
Question #2 - Depends on what you need, Chassis or for the RV itself.

Nothing like the memories, your going to obtain. If you read through the existing posts, you'll see that your going to Laugh, Cry, probably work hard on it and at times, wish ya never saw it! End up putting more $$$ and time into it then you think it's worth. But in the end, when your on the road with Family, Friends, doing what it was meant for, you'll think it was worth every busted knuckle! AND it's a Mopar, how can ya go wrong!!!

I myself have a 1977 Chinook with a 360 chassis. Paid too much, put a lot of work into it, had a few scary ordeals with it, but just the few trips I've taken since I bought it in July, it's paid for itself. Me and my 2 boys can travel in and go places in it like we never believed!

You'll find lots of moral support here, and information you'll not obtain anywhere else I assure you. Fine group of folks here, your about to find out.

Enjoy your stay and I will dig up some web addresses of some places I have found parts and post them later.

Far as a NADA value, it's whatever someone would pay you for it.
Parts... now, that's easy.

eBay for coach stuff, NAPA for the Dodge, junkyards for whatever you don't want to spend large on... gennys, mirrors, spare wheels, pretty much whatever.....

If you need a value for insurance purposes, it's a "pick a number" thing.
Figure what it'd cost you to replace the whole unit with one in similar condition. I told my agent "$7" but hey.

What can I say? Not only practical but romantic... and it's in

here is another question- the fridge that is in my rig, a dometic, doesn't work for some reason. tried it both on gas and on electric to no avail. i am wondering if it makes more sense to take it to a service center and have them look at the dometic to see if it can be fixed or whether it would be easier just to pull it out and put in a standard little mini fridge. any replies would be welcome.
also the main part that i am looking for right now is a replacement fiberglass gas fill bezel- ie. the flange piece that secures the gas filler neck to the outside of the motorhome- any ideas where to find?
