BEST 500$ I ever spent ! ! ... 440 with a alum intake, like new tires and a little used Onan. Yes!! We're a sub-culture! Way cool, MBD, way cool. Bet mine's uglier. Bet it runs better, too. Wanna race? Runs BESTer ? ... now how do you know ?? .. !! ![]() But honestly TD ...I do NOT know if it runs at all !! ... I didn't even crank-it-up ! HOW did I get it home ? .... I towed it (with a TOW BAR) behind my dually 150 miles ! Ugly ? ... you think the Travcos are UNbest looking? .... I think that they are way more practical and a LOT better built ... than those Discoverers. How do I know --becsuse I drive mine home 250 milesand it ran wonderfully. Stopping, however, was another issue... But we got that straightened out. Woah... I didnt' say they aren't well-built or practical. I said ugly. Egg-shaped fiberglass is bound to be not-particularly asthetic. Not like a shed-on-wheels-with-graphics is any better, either. MTW, mopar rv's section, I posted pictures yesterday that prove how awful the previous did up the paint. Eww. I'd love to see pictures of your interior; the previous altered things in mine he should have left alone. What color's your interior, you got the overhead-thing in the back? I don't, sure would like to know how they're attached. My frame, drivetrain, and floor are each excellent, and after those things, it's just decorating. PITA decorating, but that's all it is. |

Yeah, Travcos are "cute" like basset hounds are cute, so odd-looking you have to love them. Bug-eyed, bald-looking things. Still better than a shed-on-wheels. |

It is our home at the Phoenix raceway for 2 weeks a year. It looks so cool next to all these 300.000 dollar buses, and all the toy boxes. We absolutely love this thing! 85iroc, Yes, welcome aboard! I've spent many weekends at the Phoenix Raceway, probably have seen you. Although living in Phoenix, I can come home at night. The variety of RV's, Toy Haulers, Trailers that show up at these events, is amazing. I'm sure all of us with "Paid-For Toys", as Trish put it, feel the same about our older models. The "Labor of Love" put into them, busted knuckles and days of laying under them getting to know them inside-out, give us a type of Pride others only enjoy when sending in that monthly payment...LOL. The memories of getting it all together, as well as the trips, gives us a little extra. Gary Webb Phoenix, AZ Thanks for the comments! Our Landover has been a labor of love. I have replaced almost everything on the front of the engine. Belts, Hoses, Water pump, Alternator, Raidator rebuilt Etc. Almost none of the running lights worked when we got it, There were no bulbs in the dash to light up the speedo etc. Somone had run some mickey mouse taped up wires to some bulbs and just stuck them in the holes behind the dash. Cheezy.... So now all the running lights work, I Found the correct bulbs and sockets that go behind the dash so now it is nice and bright. I also had to pull the steering wheel off and replace the turn signal switch,(The brake lights are tied into this switch and they did not work either. They work now. We replaced the carpet up in the front of the cab, (The original black carpet was just too old, and dark. Last but not least, We repainted the inside, Got rid of the 30 year old blinds, and my wife made some curtains to cover the windows. One of the good things about the motorhome was that all the appliances work great. A/C, Stove, Oven, Water heater, and the plumbing works great as well. It has been fun (most of the time) fixing up the old Overland. Kind of a family project. Our kids have fun helping as well. We are looking forward to many years of enjoyment with our New,(old) motorhome! I hope I did'nt ramble on to long........ Thanks everyone! Jim & Emilyn............. |

If you really want to ramble (and post pictures) come over to Mopar Truck World -- there's a section just for us owners of Mopar motorhomes. (You can post your pictures directly, without having to put them on a separate hosting site first.) I especially like your kids joining in and sharing in the experience. My (grown-up) kids have fond memories of similar experiences when they were growing up. 1970 Explorer Class A on a 1969 Dodge M300 chassis with 318 cu. in. I own a Dachshund and love Basset Hounds! It all makes sense now. I did fall hard for an FMC that had a burnt orange interior. Loverly! |
