Topic: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

Posted By: 79powerwagon on 11/05/07 05:15am

What a difference!!!!!!!!!! Looks great!

Of course, I kinda like the old floor, simply for it's really tasteless quality, but then again, I have red wheels for my green camper... [emoticon]

My cousin Patti just e-mailed me a bunch of scans with humorous comments from a 1977 JCP catalog! Priceless! [emoticon] Did we REALLY have THAT poor of sense of style back then? LOL!

Sorry, I digressed... Looks awesome Leeann! Doesn't it make you feel good that you can actually walk around in there with bare feet and not worry about anything? So far, the new floor in my rig was the most improvement to the truck, at least in my mind!

She ain't purdy, but at least she's slow!

Absolutely! I didn't even want to sit on the old floor in full covering clothes [emoticon]

hi,i was looking up info on the net,and found this website.
too cool..i didnt realize so many older dodges were still kicking around.
as im a bit of a mopar nut,i have a lot of parts and projects.

i heard about this rv?..from a friend in town,he said he owned it,but never wanted to take me up there to see it.

supposedly had a 440 in it..
finally i cornered him on it,and he agreed to take me up there.
well, after some bribe money,we were off...to a farm less than 2 miles from one of our storage spots!!
i had driven past this farm a million times before.

we all go around the back of the barn, and thats where i saw this rv//bus..
talk about love at first sight..
the back was the first thing i saw,and the tailight sections looked sort of like jet thrusters..i walked around to the front...right next to the door,it has a plaque...High Performance 413

we went inside,i didnt even bother looking at the motor, turned right back around and went out to the farmer.

how much?..apparently my friend was supposed to pay 200 bucks...a year ago!!!
...i asked again,how much?
..then i said,how about a 100?
and he said yes...i was totally floored!
i bought this rig for a 100 bucks?...

so now i own a 1972 travco/dodge motor home,with a high performance 413 automatic with 4:56 rear gears....whatever that means?
heres a link to pics of it
i actually put a edelbrock carb on it,a fuel cell, and fired this beast up,and let it run for about an hour
then i drove it home...yep,drove it home..

the damages look expensive..but i am going to restore this rig.

i need new rims and tires, with the 5 hole design....
i have no manuals or electrical diagrams of any sort....for the 413 motor rig nor the generator, which is a 6000watt unit.

any help there would be greatly appreciated, and i have lots of motors/transmissions,and stuff for Rv-s...be glad to help if i can..all my rv stuff is 70-s.

ive had a great time reading thru some of the pages here already..thanks for the place to share [emoticon]
cheers,Rob

Welcome, Rob!

It means you got a helluva deal on a powerful classic (much in demand, too) motorhome [emoticon]

As for the 413, get a Dodge Motorhome Chassis Service Manual - that'll cover the 413 and anything else on the chassis built/provided by Dodge.

Electrical diagrams for the Travco...there are some available at mytravco.com (they've been spammed out of existence, just about, but some stuff does remain).

The generator: is it an Onan, Generac or Kohler?

This site has some manuals for appliances, etc, even though it's for GMC motorhomes:
http://www.bdub.net/manuals/index.html

If it's an Onan, you can get parts/manuals here:
http://www.cumminsonanstore.com/

DR Rob,
Welcome, of course you are crazy, buying some old RV and trying to fix it up.... oh wait thats what I am doing! good luck on the project, and welcome to the forum

LeeAnn,
Looks great, that is what I am going to put on the floor of mine, when I finally get done repairing the water damage and painting the inside. I hope mine looks as good as yours.. congrats

I don't think anyones dying statement ever contained the words "I wish I had spent more time in the office", so lets go somewhere!

Nice score doc Rob! Don't let Trish try and have you part that thing out just yet! [emoticon] actually she needs an access door or two that are missing on hers. Are you's good enough to pattern after?

Maybe we should have a thread asking "Who paid the least for their Dodge based C class"? [emoticon] (other than free, of course)

Eric

Rob-

Some info on the 413 (and other RB motors):
http://www.allpar.com/mopar/383.html

There's more Travco stuff here, too:

I like the Magic Bus - are you going to change or keep the paint scheme?
