Topic: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

Welcome to the club, OhioWanderer and ontheroad again!

Check your carb - the idle might be too rich, the floats might be too high...all the adjustments on our ThermoQuad were about as wrong as they could possibly be when we got it. We spewed black smoke out the tailpipes and got about 4-5 mpg for a long time . It's taken quite a while to get ours a little on the lean side; now we can adjust it back a little.

I have a '78 Dodge Reassance 21ft. 440 engine. A1 shape that I bought for $1500 last year. After some TLC it has taken a few trips. So now that there is just me and the dogs I have added an extended bumper with generator. Now if someone will tell me what to do to get 8mpg like it did when new. I am getting 4mpg. Thanks, ontheroad again

8 mpg ? ..... you are a very EZ guy to please ! .....

You have a TQ carb ? ...... a very VERY common problem are the plastic floats sinking and then the carb goes waaaay rich. A set of brass floats and tweaking the metering rods should get you closer to 10 !

UNless you are driving that at 75 mph(plus) .....UP hills - most of the time !

Found an interesting article on mileage ...

My experience with truck carbs is pretty much limited to the Carter BBD, Carter AFB, and Motorcraft 2150.

I would check timing, ignition system components, PCV valve, and air filter.

Evening Ya all, I have a problem with my chassis Air to solve.....

Took off up north again this last weekend and when I turned on the Air on the way up, it went Poof! Ran about 30 seconds and stopped. (The compressor and the fan both stopped) I've been a little busy and haven't looked at it yet.....[emoticon]

It had been working just fine. The only difference was on this trip, I had the "Cabin Battery" in place. I never had a battery in it before. The one that was in it at the purchase was shot...I Think I just found out why...[emoticon]? Could this have caused a problem in the chassis circuit?

I had no problems the rest of the weekend, everything electrical worked fine, (both)batteries stayed charged. Just the Air went out.

I'll start with the fuse(I'm sure it's probably blown), but something had to make it blow? Thought I'd replace it and disconnect the Cabin Battery, see if the air works....1st! If not, don't know where to proceed from there. I was hoping someone may have some idea's that would cause it to blow?

I doubt it was the battery ... probably just a coincidence.

Process of elimination: Does the heat/AC blower still work?

Griff in Fairbanks says : Does the heat/AC blower still work?

Griff, the heater blower works, but the AC fan does not.

The chassis electrical diagram for 1975-78 pickups, etc., shows an A/C low pressure switch and A/C compressor clutch connected to the heater and A/C control switch.

I'm assuming Class C chassis used a similar diagram.

Griff,

I'll have to wait till morning to get a closer look....But it looks the same on the diagram in my manual. I'll PM you in the morning.
