To R & R an oil pan can be a MAJOR job .. it depends on which chassis you are working in and with.

None of us said it was easy to replace the oil pan.

The plug you recommended is the easy way out ... most appropriate when dealing with an antique engine for which a replacement pan is unavailable.

I'm jealous...all I have are the medium duty and light duty truck (and car) Bendix brake catalogs for the 60s and 70s.

>snicker< ... and the original Dodge Motohome Chassis catalog ...

I believe this is called a distributed library ... maybe we should start a list of who has which catalogs so everyone will know who to ask for info on which parts.

ONCE the pan is off .. you can just weld-in another "threaded insert" - that could just be off another old oil-pan ....

THIS is no-big-deal ... once the pan is off. But again .... puling a pan in some van chassis can be a major MAJOR job.

Have YOU ever done it ?

Excellent idea. I'll do it.

And I don't see why you two (of all people) are jealous...
Leeann isn't afraid of electrics and Griff isn't afraid of computers. *g*
No, really.

Griff, I have about 10 pages for you and no-one nows how many pictures.

It's raining! Time to go sit in It and see if (ok, where) It leaks.

Okay, since you mentioned it...

It needs a 16x16 roof vent.

No, but stuff like bad-access-at-best was what kept my dad from going over to a Class C. He always said he could deal with it IF he could reach it.

Hehe - the roof vents are not part of the Chassis book - that's the coach manufacturer. And roof vents are pretty standard. Can get 'em on eBay (that's what I did) and plenty of other RV supply sites. But all three of mine are 14x14.

So my manual list is:
1- Dodge Motor Home Chassis Service Manual (Models M-300, M-375, RM-300, RM-350, RM-400) PN 81.370.3073
2- Dodge Motor Home Chassis Parts Catalog
3- 1974 Dodge Compact Service Manual (B100, B200, B300, CB300, MB300)
4- 1975 Dodge Compact Service Manual Supplement
5- Bendix Brakes 1960-1979 Light Duty Trucks + Cars parts catalog
6- Bendix Brakes Medium Duty Trucks through 1976 parts catalog

Oh - and I'm better with computers than electrics - that's what the bf's for [emoticon]

Yes, I have ... many times.

1947 Pontiac sedan
1947 Willys Overland wagon
1949 International Metro van
1965 GMC Stepvan
1966 Dodge Polara
1970 Explorer Class A motorhome (1969 Dodge M300 chassis)
1972 Executive Class A motorhome (1972 Dodge M375 chassis)
1975 AMC Gremlin
1975 Harley XLH Sportster
1977 Dodge B200 Tradesman van
1978 Harley FLH Electra-Glide
1980 Ford Bronco
1983 Plymouth K-car wagon
1986 Honda Rebel
1986 Ford Escort
1987 Ford F150 pickup
1990 Ford E150 Club Wagon (van)

All vehicles I've owned and maintained. That list doesn't include a few vehicles I only owned for a short period nor does it include vehicles I've worked on for friends and family members.

Many of those vehicles were in very poor condition when I got them, due to previous owners' neglect, abuse, and half-assed attempts at repair. All (except for the four I bought new) were in much, much better condition when I sold them.
