Topic: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

Posted By: eyeteeth on 08/08/07 07:42pm

Spent several hours working on the RV tonight. I pulled the cab seats and the doghouse, ripped out all the old carpeting, cleaned, vacummed, then went to town sealing the floorboard and putting down heat barrier and padding. Now I need to track down some left over carpet to finish the job.

Here's a question... notice the fuel line in the pic. Any idea why the PO would have attached clothspins like that?

To separate the ignition wires ?

Is YOUR heat crossover clear ...and operational ?

^ that would have been my only guess....

Of course, the '75 El Dorado we had first had a golf tee in one vacuum line, a stick in another, a screw in another - you get the idea [emoticon]

I'm on my way to the DMV today to finally register the Tioga. It'll be about $270.00 or so, but that includes title transfer, plate fees, and the biggie- HOBBIEST to match my other vehicles! One time plate charge, good until forever!

Doc, it's funny reading your stuff about the heat cross-over, then reading the same topic on moparts, except everyone is deliberately blocking them off over there! [emoticon] For those that aren't as versed in Mopardom, for our RV application, MBD is correct, keep them operational. For race and hi-po applications, you want the coldest air charge you can get, so they get blocked off. Apples to Oranges.

She ain't purdy, but at least she's slow!

Hey Eye, what year is your rig? I'm not sure why the fuel line comes up the rear of the engine! Isn't the fuel pump on the FRONT of the engine?

The only thing I can think of for why the clothspins are there is it was a handy storage solution! [emoticon] You know, after you finish your laundry, drag off the dog house, remove the oily clothspins, and hang your clean laundry to dry!

Clothespins on the fuel line is an old anti-vapor lock trick. The idea is they act as a heat sink and keep the line a little cooler so the gas doesn't boil.

MasterBoondocker

No idea. Last nights Job was Heat insulation.

79powerwagon

It's a 79 440.

Big John

I was thinking something along those lines. I can't imagine the wood is all that good of a heat sink. But it does get me thinking....

New Question. Has anyone converted their Dash air to R134?

I am going over to my buddy Bob's (mechanic par excellance) in a bit.
Bob does auto AC for a living and I will ask. He'll have to do mine, too.
